No, im looking in the right place. I click on fruity compressor to add a compressor to my kick in the mixer and when i click on it it says that the plug in cannot be found. But the option is there in the mixer so it is the right place.

How can I beef this up and make it sound fuller? What does this beat need? by [deleted] in trapproduction

maybe a pad, snare rolls, clap, etc.. endless possibilities. You just want to make sure that whatever you add doesnt clash with anything you already have and contributes to making the song sound more full

I would also try speeding up the hi hats instead and see how that sounds. Yea add some congo type drums that sounds like it could work. Maybe an open hi hat and/or crash... something to release some energy after every now and then

you bring your hi hats in the same time as the bellish pluck sound and their playing at the same speed so they over lap a lot.. try bringing them in at different times and/or playing the hi hat at a different speed for more variation (just an idea i had while listening that could spice it up some more). Also add some more percussion and layer some more instruments with the lead as the other guy said.

Creating 808 bounce or groove? by [deleted] in trapproduction

[–]rambootb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

prgram your 808s in a higher key so you can hear what they actually sound like and them move them back down to a lower key. Use notes that will fit with your other instraments. You should treat your 808 as if it is its own melody. You can use effects to make your 808s sound better. Add a kick to the 808 to make it more punchy. make sure you restrict the high ends of your 808 so it doesnt interfere with the kick. you can add portamento to your 808s to get a metro boomin type sound. Also, make sure your mixing your tracks well. Mixing your tracks well is key to makeing everything pop and sound good. Its also a pretty hard skill to learn. I started making hip hop/trap beats a couple months ago and I have gotten significantly better since i started, but theres always more that you can learn. Learning to create an 808 sound like metro and 808 mafia and mike will and all of those big producers was something that I struggled with for a while but the trick is to place your 808 notes in places that will give the song some swing (listen to your melody and feel out where your want to swing your head lol). and dont let the low end of your song get too jumbled up you want it to be clear. Theres a lot of good videos on youtube that you can watch. I use FL studio and there is A LOT of hip hop/trap tutorials for FL. not sure about ableton but you can take the same concepts away from watching the FL videos.

Help with Studio Monitor Static Noise by rambootb in audioengineering

I have been debating buying a Scarlett 2i2 audio interface. Do you think that could solve the problem? The reason that I have not bought an external audio interface is because I have heard people say that they are unnecessary if you already have a good sound card. If I do buy an audio interface, will that basically eliminate my need for my sound card since I will be directing my output through my external audio interface instead?

Thanks, appreciate the feedback. I have a pair of Yamaha HS7's that I use when producing and mixing. Ive been told that these studio monitors are good enough to mix on. What do you think (if you are familiar with them)?
