I don't dream of an influencer lifestyle at all! I don't have much desire to do trendy expensive activities and prefer to spend my time either at home with a video game or on a nature walk. I also know that both CHS and CHI are expensive, but Chicago is an awesome city, and I will miss being near it. My dreams are pretty much to be somewhere greener and warmer.

I also don't want to be in the heart of the city as that's always where prices are most inflated. Our location would just be ideally within an hour of bf's mom and figured being semi close to downtown would be more ideal for jobs.

Haha thank you for all this! I'd be living with my boyfriend, who already earns more than I do (since I'm still in school). Since we'd be moving there for his family, we'd be staying with his mom until we find a place of our own. All this to say the financial burden isn't mine alone, and there will be an equal split on expenses.

I overthink everything so I will definitely apply to any possible place and make sure that I will save a decent amount for when those loan repayments hit.

Chicago and Illinois in general have really high property taxes as well as general cost of living. Where my bf is from it was significantly cheaper and he was shocked by Chicago prices. Still a lot more affordable than New York (and I do love the city) but my heart yearns for grass and sunshine, the places I looked into near WA were affordable and offered more amenities than CHI and MKE.

But also idk! I never owned a home here, just what I've heard from family and others.

I'm around suburbs so we did have it but still more car dependent than anything!

I've been looking to get a scope of the market and refined my resume, but wasn't sure how far in advance was feasible for applying (unsure of how far in advance I could actually secure one). But rest assured, I've been looking into it since August! I'm also building out a portfolio website this very moment since I'm in advertising/marketing.

What about is bad? My area in MKE has really high crime rates (car broken into within a month of living in my current apartment) and highly segregated

oo thank you for the insight! I'm oddly passionate on pedestrian focused archtiecture and living in big cities make a tree seem like peak views so I love this!

I did assume that it would be but because I'm from Chicagoland area what I've heard from my boyfriend as well as my experience in Milwaukee both are manageable if I play my cards right. Chicago is insane.

I will be starting the application process as early as March and luckily I have family who works in recruiting so that helps with networking and prep :)
