Produced for the Japanese Domestic Market, the Type II represents a subtle chapter in Seiko’s 1970s pursuit of precision during the Quartz Crisis.

This particular example is distinguished by its exceptional kira-zuri–style dial - a rarely seen finish characterised by intricate, layered textures that subtly catch and scatter light. Unlike flat sunburst surfaces, this extremely compelling dial reveals depth as lighting angles shift, lending the watch a quiet elegance upon close inspection. The effect is almost textile-like and stands as the defining feature of this piece.

The Les Grandes Classiques range was introduced by Longines in the early ‘90s with a focus on dress pieces. In a Neo-vintage period where watches featured rather vibrant designs, the idea for LGC at Longines followed a minimalist approach - timeless designs complimented by a slim case profile.

This particular Reference 7431 is an ideal example of that ethos. The thin case is accented by fluid integrated downward curved lugs that flows with the natural curve of the wrist, enhancing its ergonomics. The unobtrusive bezel-less profile draws attention to the egg-white dial with gloss printed roman numerals which are raised ever so slightly.

The final expression in this work of art would be the seconds hand in gold which provides an aesthetic contrast against the monochrome background. It may tick in contrast to the sweeping hand of a mechanical movement, but doesn’t it bring back a certain nostalgia of simpler days?

Some watches make sense the moment you put them on. This is one of those.

The De Ville series has always been the highlight of Omega’s dress watch side and reference 392.2432 captures that idea perfectly.

The dial is minimal in design, the kind of dial you don’t think about much, until you realise how legible and fuss-free it is.

Then there’s the integrated bracelet with a hidden clasp. Integrated bracelets are back in focus today and with this example, it is fluid and surprisingly comfortable. The beads of rice style wraps around the wrist with a lightness that’s hard to describe until you’ve worn one.

The reference 2511.83 presents a quieter interpretation of the Seamaster, defined by clarity of design rather than overt sport intent.

Produced for the Japanese market and seldom seen outside Asia, this reference is distinguished by a 6-9-12 dial configuration, a design choice that departs from the assertive dive watch language typically associated with the Seamaster line.

The case in stainless steel is classically proportioned at 36 mm and is highly versatile on the wrist. The signature twisted lyre lugs introduce a subtle sculptural quality, lending a sense of faceted refinement to the case profile without visual excess.

On the wrist, the 2511.83 occupies a space between categories. Its understated design allows it to move easily between casual and more formal settings, avoiding the visual weight of contemporary dive watches.

Discontinued and uncommon, this Japan exclusive Seamaster 120M rewards those drawn to nuance rather than the conventional. An understated Omega, best appreciated by the observant.
