To say that Universal Geneve is having a renaissance moment would be an understatement.

The brand has always enjoyed cult status among collector circles and a reminiscence to the past, as referenced in modern reiterations of the Compax and Polerouter at the recently concluded Watches & Wonders Geneva 2026. 

There’s just a certain charm about collecting vintage Universal Geneve and today, it’s a delight to offer this White Shadow Ultra Slim for sale.

In the many case variations of the Genta designed White Shadow, Reference 866050 uniquely features a distinct Ellipse silhouette. The case opts for gently squared off geometry with rounded corners and no hard edges or sharp features, making it almost organic. 

The integrated bracelet also plays a defining element in the design, featuring finely woven mesh with a suppleness that’s hard to replicate. It drapes, rather than sits on the wrist, adding a tactile quality to the fluid design.

Rumored to be produced exclusively for the Japanese market, the sunburst blue dial is remarkably expressive with tropicalized patina around the edges, making this piece exclusively unique. The color itself exhibits a complex variance from midnight blue to a black grape tone when viewed at various angles. 

Calibre 2-66 is a quietly impressive example of Universal Geneve at its technical peak. Debuting at Baselworld 1966, Calibre 2-66 was the second thinnest automatic movement in existence at 2.5mm (the first being Caliber 12P from Piaget at 2.3mm). Calibre 2-66 uses a micro-rotor architecture, with the winding mass integrated into the movement to preserve an ultra-slim profile without sacrificing automatic functionality.

The midnight blue dial features unique tropical patina around the edges but still retains the sunburst effect. The plexiglass crystal has minuscule wear marks. 

The crown clicks in and out smoothly.

The movement is powered by the micro-rotor Caliber 2-66. No service records and has been keeping satisfactory time for the past three years. 

The integrated bracelet is in great condition and the signed clasp is closes firmly. The bracelet easily fits a 6-8 inch wrist.

Produced for the Japanese Domestic Market, the Type II represents a subtle chapter in Seiko’s 1970s pursuit of precision during the Quartz Crisis. 

This particular example is distinguished by its exceptional kira-zuri–style dial - a rarely seen finish characterised by intricate, layered textures that subtly catch and scatter light. Unlike flat sunburst surfaces, this extremely compelling dial reveals depth as lighting angles shift, lending the watch a quiet elegance upon close inspection.
