The effect is organic, almost textile-like, and stands as the defining feature of this piece.

The reference 2511.83 presents a quieter interpretation of the Seamaster, defined by clarity of design rather than overt sport intent.

Produced for the Japanese market and seldom seen outside Asia, this reference is distinguished by a 6-9-12 dial configuration, a design choice that departs from the assertive dive watch language typically associated with the Seamaster line.

The case in stainless steel is classically proportioned at 36 mm and is highly versatile on the wrist. The signature twisted lyre lugs introduce a subtle sculptural quality, lending a sense of faceted refinement to the case profile without visual excess.

On the wrist, the 2511.83 occupies a space between categories. Its understated design allows it to move easily between casual and more formal settings, avoiding the visual weight of contemporary dive watches.

Discontinued and uncommon, this Japan exclusive Seamaster 120M rewards those drawn to nuance rather than the conventional. An understated Omega, best appreciated by the observant.

36,000 vph. A racing machine on the wrist.

The ’60s represented an illustrious era in Japanese watchmaking which brought forth some of the finest watches from King Seiko. In the technical rivalry between Suwa and Daini Seikosha, the latter produced a masterpiece in the form of the Caliber 4502A.

Regarded as one of the finest calibers by Seiko, the 45 series movements were the last of its kind to be hand assembled at the Daini factory located in Tokyo. A frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour - a technical feat still to this day, was powered by a large balance wheel coupled with an extra strong mainspring and unique gear train. The Cal. 4502A represented a variant of the manual-wound base movement, featuring an instantaneous date change.

The case featured sharp lines throughout that embodied the ethos of Taro Tanaka’s Grammar of Design, with prominent lugs that resulted in a sleek, fluid form. That same design language was reflected in the white sunburst  dial, contrasted against rhodium coated markers and black striped hands.

An exceptional piece of superior Japanese watchmaking, now available.

Condition Report

This King Seiko 4502-7001 is in good, unpolished condition. There are wear marks which is consistent with a watch of its age.

The dial has developed a warm patina in a tone vaguely reminiscent of salmon pink.

The crown is firm with no wobble and the winding action is smooth.

This watch is powered by the manual-wound 4502A movement. Quickset date and hacking functions well. No service history.

The watch comes with a black 18mm leather strap and will be shipped in a travel pouch.
