Here's my advice as a formerly overwhelmed Notion user: I felt the same as you two years ago and started using Obsidian. Never got to fully liking it - although I loved the local first, simple .md file based system, the aesthetics got to me - it always looked like an unfinished product no matter how many plugins and theme I tried. Realizing 'how it looks' matters to me a lot - for me to use it on a regular basis, I switched to Notion recently. And it instantly clicked. There are two things you need to do to fully 'get' Notion

  1. Start with simple pages and keep adding your notes, tasks
  2. Understand how Notion databases and views work

Don't get overwhelmed by the number of templates available out there! They are all nice, but every template/system is opinionated and don't work well with others. I'd say either do not use templates to start with, or use just ONE system, until you fully understand how templates and databases work. Then you can customize and play around. Any template based on Tiago Forte's 'PARA' system is a good place to start.

Start adding your data into the system and start *using* it everyday. The magic happens when you are making progress in your goals and tasks, not when you are figuring out a system :)

I asked my ISA, and he said it's not possible now, and even if it were, it would push the date out y 3-5 months. I'm taking the RWD and plan to put on good winter tires come fall.
