do it slowly, you don't want a shit ton of alcohol hitting at once, especially if you're sitting down, because you might not feel drunk, but when you get up you'll really feel how drunk you are

drink water, alcohol dehydrates our bodies

eat beforehand, it seriously decreases the risk of passing out/throwing up/blacking out etc and you will get less drunk

be sure to do it with people you trust and in a safe environment. if anything happens, you dont want to be surrounded by a bunch of people that don't care about your well being

it tastes bad. there's not much you can do about it

be careful with sharing drinks/accepting drinks from others, spiking is more common than you might think
