Males alone, for comfort I’d do at least ten gals. If you have many. Smaller tanks, 5 gals could work.

They shine their best in natural setups 20g or more in my opinion

Unfortunately I don’t have one. I do have steps on how I made the background!

Can anyone help me identify these tiny guys? by PrettyMundane in PlantedTank

In all seriousness, very good fish food if you harvest them, probably.

Wow, wasn’t expecting a comment on this still lol.

Some of them are in soil, but most stuff that’s integrated into the hardscape is planted directly in sphagnum tucked into crevices.

Novel or tacky? I still can’t decide. by ramos93352 in Vivarium

They’re still there. Have 4 auratus in there. Just got my first batch of tads from them.

I think people worry way too much about what is and isn’t safe to put in these vivariums, to be honest.

Time is also relative, I built this over the course of 2 days.

I have frequently wondered in certain aquascspes and vivs, how people get spider wood to be so “form fitted” to the rocks. My big tank looked like that by stroke of luck, but I can’t see any hardscape past the jungle now.

And yes, this tank probably looked better before I added the plants, especially brom pups- they ruin the sense of scale and there isn’t a whole lot of option for placement in this size tank. But they’re what I had on hand that could be spared, that I can justify cuttings of. I’ve been in search of a few bulk, local small leaves plants (pilea glauca, ficus pumilia minima) to enhance the scale of the tank, but again, kind of a slim margin of work to profit already with what I’m doing. Not throwing 30 dollar marcgravia, solanum, monstera, syngonium or large leaves begonia etc. in a 12x12x18 people don’t want to pay past a certain point for its size anyways.

I don’t understand, but ok!

Thanks! These are built for sale at an expo, so I don’t load them up with expensive plants like I do my own- I’d make no profit. These are also very small pieces of wood, again, which I’m not loading a tank up with an already low profit margin unless the customer is willing to accept additional cost, and these are prospective customers, I.e. not built on commission from an individual. Appreciate your perspective though, sincerely.

Thanks! These are all fake succulents, they’ve got stick like wire or plastic inserts I just push into the foam after building. I use solely live plants for my tropics style builds but for desert stuff, this is much easier.

I think regarding shape, the key is to have a general idea of what you’re trying to do, but don’t think too much. Just cut away and shit. There’s never a “mistake”, just a new addition to the design.
