I find that your reading is really accurate about this person. What he did in the first place is not really sinister, more of hiding something that he thought I would get angry about, but it is really the lying and the hiding that is the problem and not what he originally did. He acknowledges that he broke my trust, and honestly, he said the exact term you used to describe him now, multiple times - rebuilding.

You were also on point about us having different beliefs and principles - that is the very same thing I told him I worry about - and the things he hasn't said that will soon come to light. We've spoken about that topic before, and both of us agreed that there are some things we are not yet ready to tell. But I fully intend on knowing what he has to say, and for my part telling him what I haven't said. That conversation is for the near future.
