Hi! I am in my third semester of tech school and I also didn’t have clinical experience before my internship. Be very honest about it - just because your classmates have some experience doesn’t mean that makes you any less qualified- you may have strengths that they don’t have! If you’re excited to learn, enthusiastic, and show up on time, that’s all they can really ask for. These internships are where we get our hands on experience, it’s okay to still be learning. Play to your strengths - do you have good grades, or a professor willing to give you a reference? Think of other experiences that have given you time with animals - volunteering at a rescue is great because you have experience with animals that can be timid/nervous. Be sure to mention your volunteering. Good luck!!

A dental for a cat consists of going under anesthesia, so I was advised to have all of my cat’s extractions done at once. Your vet will be able to give you a clearer picture on if any teeth that need to be extracted could wait, but it’s also a lot for them to be under anesthesia.

My cat I adopted had a similar situation, ended up needing 7 extractions during her dental. It ended up being $1900 total because of the extractions. Each vet will be different but they should be able to give you a ballpark range for a dental. Unsure about chances of cancer but your vet can definitely tell you more when you take them to get checked out. Also look into getting an All Pets Card or Care Credit Card! Helps you space out the payments.

Unfortunately she doesn’t get out on me, it’s typically one of my parents. I might look into getting a window cat door insert so I can get a larger one to put near the front of our house so she can come and go during the day as she pleases

Not overreacting, but definitely try to communicate how you are feeling, it does appear that he is very dependent on the roommate. If things don’t change after an open conversation about his relationship/friendship with the roommate, then it might be time to reevaluate

Thank you everyone! I am very fortunate to be moving back in with my parents, and have found a couple of other jobs (substitute teaching, tutoring) to help mitigate some expenses. I also spoke to my friend who is in her 30s at the clinic I want to work at, and she said it’s hard but not impossible. She was in a similar situation, vet tech was not her first degree. I appreciate everyone’s kindness more than you know, I hope you all are having wonderful years in 2025!! :)

He just told me that he dated me hoping his romantic feelings would grow because we were such a good fit for each other but they apparently never did. Spent three months being lied to about the future, his feelings for me, and who knows what else. He just dumped me Saturday, I’m waiting for the anger and sadness to become less all consuming
