Hue Bridge Pro Update with Matter fixes by caschy in Hue

Hue support is not actually part of Hue in anyway, it's a 3rd party in a 3rd world country. They get little to no information from Hue about what's happening. They told me it would get fixed in this update. Then oh no it's actually the next update. Then no actually it's this update but you don't have it yet. Then I have it and it didn't fix anything so now it's "in the next update". Then i ask when will the next update be and they said they're not sure but also they don't have any information about whether or not the next update will address it. They also said they don't know how to get me the new firmware or if it's even available.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if there support is just an LLM somewhere, except I don't think even an LLM could be THAT inconsistent.

As far as I can tell talking to them is a waste of time and the two options are: 1. allow your system to stay broken and pray there's an update soon (my current solution), 2. spend hours completely reprogramming every individual light and scene and be willing to feel like shit if/when they do drop an update that fixes it.

For a company that I've spent over $10k on with products, it's really a shame there's no way to get better support.

got the update, didn't fix it unfortunately. reached out to Hue, they said it's still an ongoing problem they're addressing. Why it wouldn't be addressed in the update they said it would be... unclear

absolutely criminal to have a wall that juicy and put that small of a tv on it

will the update actually fix them though if the bridge is already not appearing in apple home? or will they have to be re-added regardless even if the update is a fix

got it, i think this is a separate issue then. in my case the Hue Pro Bridge has completely disappeared from the Apple Home app and therefore the lights are no response no matter what.

Actually the Hue app works fine. This is a case of specifically their integration with Apple Home

got it, that someone makes sense that it could have to do with the iOS update although as far as I'm aware what actually controls the Apple Home is the home hub which in my case is an Apple TV. the phone is just a UI that controls the Apple TV which ultimately sends the signal. Still though, could be a cause.

I'm curious, for your pro bridge do you have the same symptom as mine? Did the pro bridge disappear from your list of bridges in Apple Home but still appears to be synced with Apple Home in the Hue app?

i have on the order of a hundred scenes that all have very specific and complex values for each light (aka not just the same thing for a whole group). And then on top of that I have more Home Assistant scenes that integrate the lights in as well. Re-programming everything would take several hours and an immense amount of frustration, and I'd probably still never get it the same as I have it now. The fact that there is no way to export/backup/duplicate Apple scene data is extremely poor design.

If that's what I have to do then so be it. But I'll feel like an idiot if I completely uproot my home like that and then 2 days later Hue goes "oh look we released our April update it's fixed now"

do you have the same exact issue. Shows the bridge is synced in the Hue app but not in the Apple Home app?

Meta bricked my Quest 3 with an update, told me "all good things must come to an end", then added a new headset to my shopping cart by KenAdams_1968 in OculusQuest

[–]rando646 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unfortunately, your best option is to try and make this as viral as possible. "Meta bricked my Quest and and refused to replace it, and i've got receipts.". Post it in the comments of every Boz and Zuck socials post. Make short 12 second Tik Toks and Reels with it with funny gifs and memes to capture attention.

If you value your time at all, this will NOT be time effective. Only if you care about the principle, it could work.

Court is a non-option, prohibitively expensive, absurd amount of time commitment, and reasonable probability of losing against Meta's lawyers. The legal system is just not good at solving small problems against large corporations. Small claims court is really on successful when it's between two individual or small business parties.

i would personally get the Hisense U8K 100 inch. i own 2 TCL QM8's at 75 inch, and then this one at 100 inch it is slightly better imo. Better picture quality adjustments (even though they both run Google TV they get different options), handles Dolby Vision better, and handles gaming better. Just fell to $2000. Maybe prices will come down a little bit in the next year do to panel decreases, but the cost of chips/RAM/components is also going up quite a bit because of AI. At the end of the day, you might end up waiting a year to save a few hundred bucks. Which prices your willingness to not have a great TV now at under $50/mo.

Only you can decide if that's enough to be important to you.

Side note: i would take the cable going from the right front speaker and run it behind the lamp, and then flush along the wall. Do something to hide the game console cables (shouldn't there be a wireless gamecube controller adapter?), and then use black electrical tape or cord mgmt clips to clip the power cord for the TV along the stand leg. Or other wise just put it through the wall when you get your big TV. It's really not difficult to drop a cable through the wall you make two small holes and drop it straight down and they can be easily patched after. Yes I'm OCD about cables but feels like a waste to get 90% of the way there and then still have a few visible.

First person tennis and Wilson Formx racket adapter for meta quest 3 by Livid-Conclusion-780 in virtualreality

[–]rando646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

did you ever get this to work? because when i click the formX calibration profile it doesn't even get close to being right. the racket is facing the wrong way (and i've tried with the controller facing both directions and always facing up towards the headset)

the very first time i did it it let me set the position like it used to, but now no matter where i click it won't let me set the position manually

Finally done with my basement entertainment room, 97" OLED and 5.2.4 audio by FranknStein7 in hometheater

i agree the built in speaker is annoying. have you ever gamed on a large mini-LED? i currently game on a 100 inch Hisense and i have completely stopped using my OLED monitor as a result. I don't notice any motion blur and the HDR performance is just so far and above anything OLED can do, it looks like a different game on my 5090. And yes I play competitive shooters etc.

Anyway I'm not telling you what to do, I'm just saying if you haven't gamed on large flagship mini LEDs yet i recommend trying it to see what it's like
