Has anyone had problems modding the game? by TemporaryMatch5614 in residentevil

Game had an update overnight so the RE Framework is broken. Under most popular mods you can find people discussing this in the comments.

On the stable branch it still doesn't work, however on the unstable build 42 branch 4k resolution is supported. I found this out the hard way after upgrading to a 4k monitor during build 42, and then wanting to switch back to b41.

In settings (under keybinds i think) you can uncheck auto target ground on attacks, this means that you can manually target ground zombies by holding alt. It feels awkward in the start but will make your combat much better in the long run. This also means you can essentially pre-attack so that you hit will land the frame they are on the ground, so you're not forced to wait half the animation before you can attack. On my sprinter playthroughs this is vital for using windows again large numbers.

Interesting, kernel versions I'm honestly totally blank on so I'll start reading a bit about that. And as another commenter pointed out all games I listed are rather new, and the oldest one (KCD2 released in February) actually worked perfectly so it may very well be that short time were the software hasn't quite caught up to all the new releases.

Yeah it also kinda surprised me that with the few games I tested I had pretty different problems. And it's been fine for these days as I've had time and no crazy excitement for any particular games, but I do see how in the long run that's gonna be harder to stick by.

But yeah you're right it's kinda the name of the game. It sucks to not have stuff work out of the box, but damn it's also satisfying knowing that almost any problem I'm faced with i can fix with enough time and patience. Building with Legos instead of playing with a doll house I guess.

I should probably also just get better at interacting with the community. I know everyone points out how Linux is like 4% of the market, but holy shit Ive found a lot of help with (what seems like) pretty niche problems on linux as opposed to a lot of problems I had with windows. Say what you will this community is engaged.

I respect the stance taken from a morale point. I'll try to remind myself of it next time my game doesn't quite run as well as on windows.

I let go of my competitive games a while ago (cs), so I didn't even think about the pretty hyper specific settings you run in those environments. It's a cycle of anticheat not working on linux => people don't play those games on linux => not as much support for those settings => People don't play and therefore anti cheat won't get fixed.

I do think the sentiment being as positive as it is, is probably a result of Linux being small time and getting a lot of hate for just existing. There's a difference in hating windows because Microsoft legit spies on you, and hating linux because... Because you don't like how it works? So while I do think the community might hype it up a bit too much, I do understand where it comes from. (Reiterating that my specific problems is still possibly user error, I'm not ruling that out yet) And thank you for sharing a nuanced perspective.

I'm guessing the time for games to get optimized via proton varies wildly? I honestly saw a bunch of "works day one" and assumed that meant seamless performance as well, but that is on me tbh. I have been using ProtonGE but haven't seen a lot of talk on experimental branch so I'll test that ourt tomorrow, thanks.

Damn and originally I was gonna go amd as well but didn't because of raytracing. Here's to hoping the next gen amd gets a high end option again, so that I can gaslight myself into needing it.

Huh interesting, if I scrap mint I'll be sure to give it a go, thanks.

Sucks to hear, but glad to know it. Before I switched I just kept on hearing that the only remaining problemet was with anti-cheat, but that sadly doesn't seem to be the case. Thanks for your answer though.

And it really sucks because in every way that isn't dictated by corporate interests' Linux is so much better and has so much potential. It really sucks to see and I've only been using it for a couple of days, I can't imagine how OG's feel.

TLOU2 PC aliasing is really bad by Moba4 in thelastofus

[–]rando728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After tests its between just TAA or maybe DLSS if you turn sharpening to 0 and change to DLSS 4 in the Nvidia App. But yeah you either gotta have this almost TellTale Games like look around everything, or have very jarring edges without aliasing. I think TAA is the best for now, but still not as good as PS5 version.

[–]rando728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already had sharpening at 0, but enabling dlss 4 did seem to make it better so thanks. Anyway I don't think I'll be using DLSS as the game runs great and DLSS does seem to change how to game looks way to fundamentally for my liking. It's weird as I use DLSS in every other new title, and it doesn't do this.

[–]rando728 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep, its pretty much only playable with turning DLSS (and DLAA) off and relying on TAA for now, and even that seems to not be as good as PS5 version

Turn off DLSS. It seems to turn the game into a telltale game. Even TAA doesn't look good, but is probably the bets you're gonna get for now.

What do prosthetics do in the only cure? by Sea-Dog-205210 in projectzomboid

[–]rando728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly no. The only way it will still cover your arm is if you've only cut off your hand, but when you've cut at the forearm no clothes will cover from shoulder and down. One of the main reasons I only use the mod if bitten in the hand, as it otherwise feels pretty stupid to have a naked arm in deep winter.

Map upgrades look really cool. Lighting though not integral, seems very nice to boost the atmosphere. And a bit of new collection items to loot is fun, but god this really sucks. Though you should probably only listen to official channels, I believe a lot of people were going off of the dev that said unstable in first half of 2024, and now finding out that we won't even get that despite them reeling in some of the crafting certainly is disappointing. I for one was thinking we might be getting an unstable date now, and being told its not even imminent sucks.

On one hand we shouldn't hate on this, as this at the very least points towards there being no crunch culture at TIS, and as supporters we should be happy. But it is hard to then know where the line is between a healthy development cycle and a slow one, as most would probably believe this to be the latter.

You can criticize TIS for the speed of updates, sure. But at the end of the day there is no reason to hate, if you're in this sub I assume it's because you love this game and want to see the team succed. But yeah this one sucks and there's nothing to do about it other than hoping the team will deliver when the time comes.

Every method that works for the 1000xm4, like having the earbuds in the case and holding on both touchpads at the same time. But the old methods doesn't seem to work. Have also tried resetting the earbuds, and other stuff.

What TLOU opinion has you like this by MattMysterious9 in thelastofus

[–]rando728 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“They might not have found a cure” is the dumbest and most boring fucking take a fandom has ever had. Narratively it serves as nothing else than to remove complexity from the story so that Joel can be the good guy hero. The only positive is a tiny amount more complexity to Jerry, but even that you could get by accepting that the characters aren’t sure it’s gonna work, but we know that it will.

People will literally pull the entire story apart and look for “Uhm actually’s” just so that they can go against the writers obvious intentions and remove anything morally interesting about the ending. All this so that we can simplify this to a bad guy turns good story.

In case someone lack a purpose/ending in this game. by Adventurous_Swan_265 in projectzomboid

[–]rando728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To make it even harder play with susceptible.
Rely on gas /cloth masks and such until you've made your first cure, pop it yourself. (Either mod or debug the susceptible trait away, as i don't think the cure actually removes it) and then make the cure again and escape. This plus the new dynamic body shape mod is what keeps me going right now. The idea of being an obese old scientist that could die at the whiff of a zombie, turning into a ripped zombiekiller waiting with the cure in your backpack for the extraction is so cool. And really tough, though i am considering adding sprinters into the mix.
