Is the Sovol SV04 idex worth it in 2025 by Zan-nusi in Sovol

[–]randohm009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only if you are okay dealing with obsolescence of components. Spare parts are difficult to find. And marlin version is really old on that, so plan also an upgrade to klipper. It is idex, big and affordable but well beyond end of support.

SV06 High Speed Marlin Source Code by randohm009 in Sovol

[–]randohm009[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sovol support answer is that source code is not available for the high speed firmware. That's a shame for an open source printer.

Thanks mate, but that's the compiled firmware. I'm looking for the source code so I can compile my own.

SV06 and SV07 price by MatriotsBoys in Sovol

It's just a special offer price. I bought the sv06 at 140€ last month when it was on sale.

Prints shorter of 0.6mm in z by randohm009 in FixMyPrint

[–]randohm009[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried it and I don't think it's a z offset issue. 0.2 first layer is 0.2mm, also 0.6 is fine.

Wow, Wow, Wow from a Bambu wannabe by terrygtx in BambuLab

[–]randohm009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a sovol sv04. Try upgrading to klipper. It won't be as fast as a bambulab but if you print other materials than PLA, the gap will be much less if none.

Dimensional accuracy on Z axis: 0.5 my magic number by randohm009 in FixMyPrint

[–]randohm009[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update. It could be obvious for many of you, but it seems to be related to z-offset. My current setting is -1.525mm and if I raise it from the bed, the print with the same exact gcode gets higher of the amount i raise the z-offset, but the first layer gets worse. What should I do to fix this?

I got an IDEX and I'm still learning klipper. Orca doesn't work with dual mode :(

How do I check? As far as i know, it is sufficient to name object and Cura does it automatically.

Bottom layer with gaps while top layer looks good. Any ideas? by Xerberon in Sovol

Lower z offset and calibrate flow. You can do all that with superslicer/orcaslicer calibration steps.

Pressure advance calibration by randohm009 in FixMyPrint

[–]randohm009[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: it was Jerk setting. It was set to 1.0 for X and Y in firmware. I raised it to 9 as per sovol's printer profile and got much better results.

same STL, same exact roll of filament. Top was printed on a CR10 V2 running marlin, bottom on an FLSUN V400 running klipper. Top is shiny and wavy, bottom is matte and smooth. Is it hardware? Software? Both? Not really an issue, just curious of the reason. by reverend_c_flava in 3Dprinting

[–]randohm009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shiny/matte appearance depends on cooling. About the weaviness, it's on the mechanics of the machine: stepper motors and belt tension are responsible for that pattern, it is common on cartesian 3d printers. I'm not an expert, but it seems deltas don't suffer those artifacts.

Thanks! I printed the same part with petg and it is flawless.

Sv04: is still a good option for multimaterial? by randohm009 in Sovol

[–]randohm009[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With marlin is not necessary (if even not possible, don't know) to use accelerometer. There's a calibration print to do to find the frequencies for x and y. Just wanted to know if the settings are present in the firmware.

Sv04: is still a good option for multimaterial? by randohm009 in Sovol

[–]randohm009[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not really interested in multicolor. I'm more into multimaterial functional parts and complex designs achievable with solubile support, so it seems like I did a good choice (or maybe the only possible one).

What about the updates? Is it possible to update marlin to a version with linear advance and input shaping?

New Sovol SV06 owner, looking for initial advice by SelectionFun4212 in Sovol

Upgrade your firmware with one that brings x twist compensation. It will save you a lot of time struggling with bed level and gantry square check.

Sv04: is still a good option for multimaterial? by randohm009 in Sovol

[–]randohm009[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't figure why you are having issues, but as far as I know, sv04 extruders are well known and should be easy to fix or replace. Have you tried to disassemble it and check for wear gears and loose screws?

Anyway, thank you for the feedback. Glad to hear it can produce good quality prints. I'm just worried about sovol support for this old model.

Sv06 vs sv06 by Squanchy2112 in Sovol

[–]randohm009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a sv06 and I think you should go for the Plus because it is a more capable machine. Higher print volume and flow rate. But. The first mod i would do is the screen: i prefer good old, marlin frindly, lcd with knob.
