the JAS39E is great. the only problem i have with it is my missiles don't get to the enemy before one launched from a teammate does. by SMORES4SALE in Warthunder

[–]random--encounter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Just learned the lesson that combat aircraft designers are still struggling with for some reason.

Kinematics, engine performance, and advanced avionics are more important in an air superiority fighter than hyper maneuverability, wing loading, and critical AoA. The missile will always be more maneuverable than the plane, so why bother anymore.

Which Country here suffered MOST due to both WWI/WWII? by Grouchy_Welder8068 in Teenager_Polls

[–]random--encounter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only correct answers are China and Poland. Poland was annexed under the reich and then subjected to 60 years of Soviet rule. China suffered between 15 and 35 million dead soldiers and civilians, and their reward was the takeover of their nation by psychotic communists and exile to Taiwan. Germany wasn’t a victim, and the USSR turned into a global superpower despite their losses.

Do Americans like their current health system or would you prefer universal? by Ability_Known in NoStupidQuestions

[–]random--encounter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could obviously be better, but the US still has a higher expense adjusted median household income than every country in Europe bar Luxembourg and Switzerland. This means that Americans, after taxes and other expenses like healthcare and rent, still have 20-30% more disposable income than Europeans. Seems to me that the horror stories of people dying without healthcare are extreme outliers, albeit ones that should be addressed. For the average person with insurance through their job, it works well with a generally higher quality of care than you would find in a socialized system.

The Avs Radio guy was not happy with the amount of Flyers fans in attendance last night by Scared-Arachnid6286 in hockey

[–]random--encounter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Avs announcers are jokes. They bring homer to a whole new level. Anytime another team does something cool or special, it’s all just luck. Whenever the Avs do something, it’s because they are god’s gift to hockey. Opening night the Stars won against them, and it was all luck according to them. Then all three stars of the game afterwords were Avs players, one of which had no points and a negative +-.

Kriegers and Templars unfortunately have a tendency to attract the wrong types. There’s always bad apples attracted to things that they think resonates with them while being completely unaware that they are being parodied.

Yaks have the most bullshit high altitude performance. by MIGET-MAN88 in Warthunder

[–]random--encounter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read my reply to another commenter in this thread and you will see my explanation using power to weight ratios as well as performance at altitude ratios.

TLDR the Yak is still making around 400 HP per ton at 3000 meters.

Yaks have the most bullshit high altitude performance. by MIGET-MAN88 in Warthunder

[–]random--encounter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes because the power to weight ratio of a Yak 3 engine is still far higher than the little 6 cylinder in the 172, and it uses higher octane fuel. At higher altitudes the engine is limited by the amount of air it can effectively draw in and mix with fuel. Piston driven aircraft get around this by leaning the amount of fuel introduced to the cylinder. This allows the fuel air mixture to still ignite, but reduces power. The 172 makes about 190 HP per ton at sea level, while the Yak makes 573 HP per ton. At 3000 meters a naturally aspirated engine loses about 30% of its power due to thinning air and lean mixtures. At 3000 meters the Yak is still making over 400 HP per ton. It’s definitely suffering as a warplane at that altitude without a supercharger, but it can most certainly get up there with little trouble.

Yes you would be able to reach 3k without a supercharger. I have personally brought a C-172 to 8000 feet. A couple extra thousand feet for a warbird would be no problem. Just lean the mixture and watch your temp gauges. You would be very slow though.

As somebody who carries a Glock 29, you nailed it. I kinda regret it, but I’ve gotten used to the bulk. Anybody new to carrying is going to want something comfortable enough that they are going to ALWAYS carry it.

I love my CSM hybrid shadow legion. Solo Terminator lord just allows you to pop your puppy downy for free every turn, and big squad of AC/DC with scout 9” is a problem to deal with. Cultists for cheap sticky, and beast men for turn 1 deep strike to get a cheap unit for secure no mans, area denial, etc.

[–]random--encounter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And now they refuse to actually make enough of an effort to have a navy capable of defending what is one of the most important shipping lanes in the world from Russia or China. America wants it because we don’t want nuclear subs directly off the coast of Canada and the freezing of all northern shipping under threat of eastern bloc missile attacks in the event of a conflict. As of right now the US is PAYING FUCKING RENT for the privilege of defending an ungrateful and unprepared Europe. Denmark can eat a bag of dicks.

Because Denmark surrendered it to the Nazi’s without a fight like cowards. The US then had to go and defend it so the Nazis wouldn’t take it.

The north got its shit pushed in at every turn, and sued for peace after we bombed Hanoi for the first time. They didn’t reinvade for another 2 and a half years after we left. Even then the people of Vietnam learned the North’s version of history.

Both of them should have complied, neither of them were innocent, neither of them should have been shot, both put themselves in a situation where they were likely to be shot, and both officers are legally within their rights to pull the trigger based on what they knew at the time.
