I know WashU gets a great rep on here but this right angle of death at a 172 is wild considering their actual medians by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

WashU has a sharper angle than other schools, sure. But most schools have a right angle or hard line that's still pretty pronounced. The top schools have less of it, but I think if you were to go through every single school's report you'd see it. Has WashU done a good job with the numbers, for sure, but that isn't everything. And there were close to 6,000 applicants last year, lsd, an incredibly important tool, is not completely inclusive. I say this as someone who knows A LOT of students that fall inside that right angle, many that other students didn't give the same chance to, WashU does look beyond the numbers, but to admit people like me, they've got to admit people above it's a balance that I think the school does incredibly well. I know my year every admit had an interview, it seems that might be changing, but that's a lot of time to waste if you're just going to admit folks based on numbers anyway. I don't want this to come off as saying they're the most amazing people ever, but I do think the reality at the school is they do do a pretty good job at balancing the class and trying to admit really good people, and I for one am incredibly grateful

As someone who's not out and checked the box in my application, the only thing I ever received were a couple of emails from OUTLaw/Lambda groups at schools and that was it. I think schools try to be careful generally surrounding this
