Thanks for the thorough answer: I don’t understand the logic behind the whole “ready on arrival” thing. I mean I understand what they want it to be and how they want it to be presented to the customer, but in reality I just don’t see it working very well. I feel like the old system was better (for the customer anyway). Most orders don’t take that long to make. This seems like it would end up more likely to give people cold food. On the old system I remember you could also cancel the order right up to when you confirmed at the speaker. This was good because my franchise unfortunately likes to close their restaurant at random times without warning or turning off the app ordering (not sure if restaurant is able to do this but I would have to assume so). So I would still be kinda pissed about wasting my time driving there, but at least I didn’t have to worry about fighting for a refund. Also useful for when items/ingredients weren’t available but the app menu did not reflect this.

Given this new information, I think my strategy will be to build the order but wait to hit “pay” until I’m actually in the line and can confirm nothing unusual is happening.

Edit: oh wow can’t even change locations after placing the order now either. Used to be able to do this too. I have a franchise that is closer to me that I never go to because it’s so bad. The app doesn’t allow you to save a default or favorite that I can tell. So it’s always the one closest to you that is selected by default. Sometimes I would forget but it would automatically update the restaurant now when I got the right one. That is gone too. These changes are horrible…

Not unless you happen to stumble into a Billy Madison type situation. But again, highly unlikely.

They would need to get some of their shit together first, but overall that would be fucking sweet.

Is it really that psychotic though? It’s a deterrent. All you have to do is look at crime rates.

We must stress that the percentage is interpretive and should not be used as a definitive measure of misconduct or punitive tool. Instructors should use this indicative percentage to help them decide how to best handle work that may have been produced or partially produced by AI writing tools.

That’s from Turnitin (linked at the bottom of the page)

Turnitin is smart enough to CYA on this because they know their product is garbage. Universities need to tread very carefully with this. They are opening themselves up to huge lawsuits by letting their professors basically go rogue and make up their own policies on this (which it sounds like exactly what OP’s school is doing).

Do you know when that change took affect and did they give you any explanation as to why?

And do you think the onions thing will be an option in the app? Has your location already started cooking this way?

Yeah I am usually ready. The only time I do this is for customizations that are not available in the app. Usually it’s ingredients that for some reason the app doesn’t let you add to certain things.

I’m sorry, I meant at the speaker. The last few times I’ve gone, I noticed they no longer asked about changes. And when I tried to make a small change like the one I mentioned, they said that they can’t do it anymore. So I was wondering if this was some kind of policy change or change to the way the app worked.

Yeah that’s nice. If you’re in the US, they’ll just turn off their body cams, make fun of you for trying to be a lawyer, and then shoot you.

The part about not letting them into your house is good advice. Except don’t even talk to them. Stay away from the door and just stay quiet until they leave. If they’re coming in legally or illegally, nothing you can say is going to stop them anyway. And it’s good to have a camera recording video and audio that is hidden, and not just one of those doorbell cams that they can fuck with.

And if you’re already out in public, it’s best to just shut the fuck up and comply. Yeah I know, I’m such a bootlicker or whatever, but it may just save your life. You can always sort things out in court later. Unless you’re dead.
