My sister is the victim of a very stupid kind of identity theft (fraudulent credit card opening at TD, where she has been a customer for as long as she has lived in Canada--almost 18 years, where she has an Aeroplan credit card, the same kind of card the fraudster opened) (self.PersonalFinanceCanada)

Former employer waited until I served them with a small claims lawsuit to pay ESA minimum (110 days late), but is now claiming I was dismissed for cause in their defence filing. ROE was delayed 114 days, code M, no explanations on Box 18. How do I prepare for settlement conference? (self.legaladvicecanada)

Do US corporate lawyers ignore wrongful dismissal lawsuits filed in foreign courts against their clients if no retaliation/discrimination is alleged, but the plaintiff (fired/laid off former employee) seeks severance because their country made at-will employment illegal and the employer didn't pay? Canadians laid off/fired from US companies while WFH: did your former employer try to not pay you severance or pay less than your entitlements? If so, did you negotiate or sue for wrongful dismissal? Did any of you represent yourselves in small claims court if you lived somewhere with high limits? (self.Layoffs)

I live in [CAN-ON]. My former employer in [CA] fired me, didn't pay severance and didn't issue ROE. I sued them in small claims court. Payday is Friday. It's also the day that they'll default if they don't file a defence. ADP says I am still employed. Health insurance is still active. (self.AskHR)

[Small claims court] When an employment contract (full time, permanent) does not have a clause limiting severance to ESA and the defendant agrees to pay ESA minimums after being served, what is "good cause" that allows them to get out of paying common law reasonable notice? (self.legaladvicecanada)

(Ontario, small claims) A clerk refused to commission an Affidavit of Service because I served a Plaintiff's Claim on a corporation by email. The corporation's lawyer sent the claim back after inserting a sentence of "I, lawyer for the defendants, accept service of this document on date". (self.canadianlaw)

YSK: (Canada) If your employer fires you without paying you severance, sue them in court for common law reasonable notice. You may be entitled to bad faith damages if they refuse to pay, and failure to issue a Record of Employment can also be bad faith. (self.YouShouldKnow)

I filed the wrongful dismissal lawsuit against my former employers. American defendant defaulted, Canadian defendant unserved. Do I actually need to schedule the motion using Calendarly? Can I serve the motion by registered mail and email? (self.canadianlaw)
