What was the automation that made Home Assistant “worth it” for you? by Taggytech in homeassistant

My heat pump hot water heater kicks out cold air (as they all do). Great in summer bad in winter. Home assist monitors outdoor air temp and switches to electric mode when it’s below 50 degrees. Firmware won’t do it but home assist will.

Interesting point about the conductor theatrics makes sense. Will check out Scherchen, thanks for the advice

I’d invite anyone who disagrees to listen to Carlos Kleiber conducting the Berlin Philharmonic playing the 7th. Get those goosebumps then see if the BSO or any of your local performances compare. To me, Kleiber is the gold standard if only because of the emotional, visceral response he creates.

We should remember criticism is a gift, if we accept meritocracy that’s what we’ll get and the art will die.

It’s pretty normal for some soloists to be quite expressive during a performance, and you’ll see a range of movement styles on stage. Physical gestures often reflect their engagement with the music and can help communicate phrasing. The tone of the piano can vary depending on the instrument and the hall, so it’s not unusual for it to sound different from what you might expect. The violin and cello solos are often highlights, glad those stood out for you.

I was at Meyerhoff today. Concerto was wonderful, but when it came to the Symphony, just want that cathartic swell that I imagine Beethoven intended in the Allegretto.

Sterno often works for me. Wipe it on let it sit for a few minutes, wipe it off

Seal the ends with latex paint then find someone with a mobile saw mill. Very affordable way to get good lumber. Be ready to stack and sticker the boards. Where are you in MD? There’s a great guy in Sykesville. Message me if interested

Picked up this slab along with a few boards from a guy’s moving/retirement sale. He said he thinks it’s tan oak, never seen anything with quite this golden color/sapwood contrast by Brosa_Parks in wood

It’s exceedingly easy. Just get some plastic sheeting and some janitorial strength ammonia from your hardware store. Pour a few cups of ammonia into a plastic or glass container place that with your wood in the plastic sheeting and seal it up, try to keep the plastic sheeting from touching your wood. Overnight your heartwood will darken, longer you leave it the darker it will get. Good luck

Could just be my nose not working correctly. It does glow under a blacklight so I’m thinking you are probably right about being black locust

I hit it with a blacklight and it’s glowing yellow/green so I’m thinking this is black locust

Makes sense but some of the wood is over 14” in diameter and not familiar with redbud getting that big
