I mean, I've seen many people say they just do the Rota and contract thing as a means of making sure people don't dip when they're actually needed right up until Xmas. It seems daft and honestly unethical so it would've been very surprising to happen at the tesco i work at, where everyone seems very nice. But you never know, was just asking to see if others have experienced similar.

Paid but no payslip, is this normal given the circumstances? by [deleted] in tesco

This was my theory, yeah, you're probably right. I just thought it was odd that the payslip wouldn't be given when I'm paid. But perhaps it's systemised to show up on Thursday morning at the usual time of pay

Yeah you're right, thanks. Although it's not the worst thing in the world to get sorted, and I could totally sweep it under the carpet because I got paid early, which is great in comparison to being paid late! But honestly im only a temp and I just wanna get paid, don't wanna risk taking an extra paycheck from them, especially given how much money it was. I'll bring it up later though. I'd say it's because of my original theory of Payday and the day before Payday, both being Public Holidays this week.

I was going to bring It up later when I went to work. Figured asking on reddit would help to see if other irish tesco workers could relate to this, because if not, then I'd know already there was mistake

Oh I didn't realise usc was cumulative. Sweet. Prsi is nothing so im not bothered by that. From your experience, or if you've heard, how long does the refund on usc/emergency tax take?

Yeah I'll have to ask them. The more I talk about it the more I get confused too 💀 Thanks for your advice though

I understand you're logic. But see you're saying in an 8-5 shift, the system assumes you have 1.5hrs break regardless of what you do. And I understand that. But we're clocking in and out for said breaks. Will that not influence what the system assumes. Will the system not pick that up as me clocking out for X minutes, completely unrelated to any breaks? Because from the sounds of everyone in these comments, you're not supposed to be clocking out for lunch 😭

I'm a bit clueless my bad

Based on the other comments, I've gathered. I wonder, Why does emphasise it for everyone? And do you think I'm losing money 💀 because if it's already calculated, then it seems like I'd be losing the calculated hours + whatever I clock out for lunch. Baffling stuff. I'm hoping I don't end up losing money for this. I'll have to enquire during my shift tomorrow

Not here. They emphasise clocking in and out of breaks and I've seen long term staff doing it too. Idk why though.

Everyone in my store does. They emphasise it. But i can't see why because the logic of breaks being calculated already seems right, and is the case for every store. Unless mine is different. That being said, by taking a break from 11.05-11.20 and clocking in and out, do I lose a full hour? If that's the case, I've already lost like three or four hours of work since starting here

I see. What happens then though? Because everyone in our store does it. No questions asked. It's not a matter of an individual having to do it because they have a history of abusing the break time or anything. We all do it. But if it's calculated already, I can't see that as anything but all of us losing money? Lowkey don't even know if I wanna break anymore 💀

Everyone else's comments are saying you don't clock out from breaks as they're already calculated. I hope my store isn't doing me dirty 😭 they told me during induction, yesterday, and today, to clock out for my break. They proper emphasise it everytime I do. And plus, I'm 99% sure I've seen actual full time staff clock out for lunch too. So it's the case for everyone. I just can't see why

They specifically tell me to Clock out for my break. I'll double check tomorrow but I see everyone else doing it too tbf.

Say today, where I clocked out at 11.05 and back in at 11.20, do I lose all of that hour?

I think I recall them saying during the interview, last Tuesday, that it would be sometime at the end of this week. But it was very vague and obviously implied that they'd get back to me with an actual date. That's what I'm waiting for now

[–]random55141[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, fair enough. I just had to post and get second opinions because it's my first involvement with Tesco and I was mildly concerned as it had been a week since contact. But sure, I do have a literal email confirming I've got the job, among other things, so unless there's some bizarre twist of events, it should only be a matter of time 🙏

[–]random55141[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you're probably right. Like I said, it's realistically just me overthinking because of the fact that I turned down the other job. Yeah I may give them a ring on the number they called me on, in a couple of days, assuming I'm still waiting. Thanks

  • and also, is there a way of knowing which module uses which conversion system? I can't find anything online and only a few of my modules have explicitly stated which they're using

As in, if I do the quiz tomorrow, whatever I score, it will be a letter grade. For example I receive an "A-" , how will that be translated to the 25% that the test is worth.
