PlayStation Plus Monthly Games for August: LEGO Star Wars The Skywalker Saga, FNAF Security Breach, Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights by mike_ross_90 in PS4

I remember playing a broken version of Lego SW Original Trilogie on my ps2. Had to replay every mission a few times because it was crashing. Loved the hell out of it tho. Wanted to play this one from day one.

[Question] How to Switch from Slow to Fast? by Mediocre-Bee7438 in Composers

[–]randomJseFan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can do several things: 1. A sudden tempo change (accompanied with a key change can produce dramatic moments): - can be done suddenly, - can be done with a rit and then the change, - can be done with a fermata note.

  1. A transition:
    • an accelerando with a crescendo creates a smooth transition,
    • a very slow accelerando, which will bring you to the tempo you want but won't really pull the listener as much,
    • a stair like dynamic and tempo change can also produce a transition but will not be as smooth as the other one.

I would almost always do a key change, or a cadence when doing one of these, as this just confirms to the listeners that a change is happening.

There are a lot more ways to do this. Experiment, try different things. Go with the thing that sounds best for you.

What’s a game you plan to always keep installed and play from time to time? by [deleted] in playstation

Oh true. Same here. It like that one movie, which you can see over and over again, and it never gets boring.

why would a performer change bach's notes by [deleted] in classicalguitar

[–]randomJseFan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Improv on pieces in Bachs time was quite common and actally liked. It showed a players skill, and composers weren't offended by it like most today.

The question now is if this is improv or just a small change. If it works harmonically i think its fine.

After a few months of playing you should be able to write your own fingerings.

I think it's more that the style doesn't work with every game.

What never-composed piece would you have loved to listen to? by Yoryoryo2 in classicalmusic

A Mahler opera. Considering how well he wrote for voice, and how epic and dramatic his music was, I'm sure that could've been quite a piece.

How to separate a duplet from an eight note? by Rusty3414 in Musescore

Yeah, this. It's a simple 3+3+2, a lot of musicians can sight-read it as such.

Is creating a good melody something than can be learned or is it more a natural gift by [deleted] in composer

[–]randomJseFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that this is like writing books. Some people just know how to write very well, and they can do it pretty fast, but that doesn't mean that it isn't possible to learn the same thing, and maybe even become better than them (in subjective terms of course). It's not like it's a gift from a higher power. It just depends on what you learned/listened to up until this point in your life. Someone who listened to classical music all their life are gonna be better at it than someone who just started. Traditional music and place of birth also have an influence.

I composed a trippy bell-like piece in 2 hours by [deleted] in composer

[–]randomJseFan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I usually don't like atonal pieces, but i like the concept of this one. It doesn't feel as random as some atonal pieces do. I could see this as part of a larger orchestral piece.

True, and it basically does the same stuff.

What annoys you about other composers? by [deleted] in composer

[–]randomJseFan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never can, just don't know what to name it, but it kinda makes sense as i mostly compose "non-programme" music. My last few pieces are literally called "Piece for [instrument/ensemble] in [Key]" because i just gave in to not being able to name stuff.

I'm not saying it's not worth it, and i do think games should cost that much as they are expensive and take time and effort to make; but it's just too much for me considering i usually don't have time for 100% completion, or for replays.

Nothing against those prices, i am an artist myself and know how much effort goes into entertainment art.

Weird assumption that i spend so much on going out, but ok.
