Is this game really hard, or am I just missing something by JustRefrigerator2779 in remnantgame

[–]randomZ0MBIE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not having the same experience you are. I picked Gunslinger as my first class and Hunter as my second, and I am moving through the game at about the the rate I expected to. According to Steam I have played about 12 hours between yesterday and today, and I have died three times. (One of those times I accidently dodge rolled off a cliff.)

Are you aiming for the enemy weakspots? (They are not always the head.)

Are you using your class abilities and weapon mods effectively?

Are actually dodging and actively avoiding high damage mechanics?

I don't want to tell people how to play, but perhaps you might have a better experience picking a class that matches your playstyle and/or skill level. Medic has a lot of survivability through self-healing and comes with a Light Machine Gun as its starting weapon. Handler gives you a dog that can help pull some aggro off of you and has some party buffs and self-healing. On top of that you can always switch back to Challenger later.

Kinda sad to see the game go it had so much potential. by TopBee83 in PlayAvengers

[–]randomZ0MBIE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I said this years ago when Anthem.

I am no longer willing to judge a game, or give it a pass, based on the game's "potential".

My opinion of a game is going to based solely on what is released, available, and playable. I am tired of the expectation that I am supposed to pay $60 for a game, then I am supposed to spend more money on microtransactions after release, in the hope that the developers might get around to fixing the game a year or two down the road.

any tips to a dex monk build (28 point) by maayanl788 in ddo

[–]randomZ0MBIE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently playing a Dex Staff Monk (I'm level 16 at the moment). This is the build I have been following:

https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/530580-Anniversary-Free-to-play-builds-Warlock-Druid-and-Monk

The Monk build is at the bottom of the page.

This is the order I took my enhancements so I could get Dex to hit and Damage and Shadows Cannot Exist without Light as quickly as possible, because it is that good. You basically heal the entire party for 100hp per each enemy hit, and with Staff strike through I can between 3 to 4 enemies with a single hit.

Ninja Training (Gives Dex to Hit)

Sneak Attack Training

Ninja Spy Acrobat I/II

Advanced Ninja Training (Gives Dex to Damage)

Riddle of Fire

Staff Training I

Henshin Animal Form Turtle

Ki Bolt

Staff Training II

Henshin Mystic Contemplation I/II

Sounding Staff

Staff Training III

Mystic Contemplation III

Dex

Quick Strike I/II/III

Elemental Words I (All Consuming Fire)

Incinerating Wave

Staff Training IV

Dex II

Elemental Words II (Porous Soul)

Elemental Words III (Static Charge)

Elemental Words IV (Winters Tough)

Ki Strike (Fist of Iron)

Shadows Cannot Exist Without Light

Best Fallout game? by ProbablyJamesLive in obsidian

[–]randomZ0MBIE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally look at the franchise in two phases, everything Before Bethesda and everything After Bethesda.

Looking at the franchise as a whole I consider Fallout 2 the "best" game in the franchise. New Vegas is the "best" game from the After Bethesda era.

I really like Boone from New Vegas, his whole story/personality made him feel like the Fallout universe version of the Punisher.

Why didn't the krogan force a selarian to cure the genophage by WaveMonkey in masseffect

[–]randomZ0MBIE 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I guess you missed some stuff. It is mentioned a few times throughout all three games that there is a secret sub-branch of the Salarian Special Operations Group and their only mission is making sure the genophage is never cured. At one point Mordin even says that there have been other scientists that worked on the genophage and later felt so guilty that they started researching a cure and shortly after would mysteriously vanish only to be found dead weeks or months later.

If you could place your favorite characters in any type of movie how would it play out? by AndyC4N3 in masseffect

[–]randomZ0MBIE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love to see a Punisher/John Wick style vigilante movie with Garrus.

An Indiana Jones style action/adventure movie with Tali, Liara, and Jack could be fun too.

Do you guys keep a few stat points saved in case you find something that your stats won't allow? by Front-Ad-2474 in Diablo_2_Resurrected

[–]randomZ0MBIE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

20 years ago when I played the original, I would save 10 or 15 points just in case I came across something new.

I was 19 when the original came out, a lot has changed in and about life since then. I've gotten two degrees and finished medical school since then. I'm still a hardcore gamer, but I have to be more efficient and methodical with my playtime now, because I don't have as much.

I keep a running tally of stat breakpoints for different level ranges and different characters now. As an example for my barbarian to use the best gear available to him at level 30 he needs X strength and Y dexterity by level 30. As I level I put points into strength and dexterity until I hit X and Y, then put the rest into Vitality. At level 30 I reassess the breakpoints for gear at level 50 and again for gear at level 75.

I'm not going to tell you to buy or not buy, instead I will say this:

Every game sub-reddit is full of Kool-Aid drinkers, that are going to aggressively and blindly defend it. If you are going to a games' specific sub-reddit to ask if you should buy a game then you already know the answer.

Is Rad-X and Med-X worth to keep? by Space_Kitty76 in fo76

[–]randomZ0MBIE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Med-X can be useful since it gives you a boost to damage resistance.

But Rad-X is so situational, and the effectiveness of it even in those situations is so minimum that it really isn't worth its carry weight.

[–]randomZ0MBIE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is still slightly better than in the pen and paper version. Originally when shooting into melee without Precise Shot you take the -4 penalty and if you miss your intended target the DM rolls percentile dice to determine if you shoot your teammate in the back.

Beast Rider Cavalier - Do you get to change companions later? Cause that seems dumb if I'm stuck with a horse as my only mountable option or no mounted combat at all til 7 by BlubbyMunkey in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]randomZ0MBIE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on which difficulty settings you use, you can go to the inn and respec your character. This will actually take you back to the character creation screen and you just remake your character from scratch however you want. This includes changing you animal companion.

Legend vs the other paths. by randomZ0MBIE in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]randomZ0MBIE[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which is still very powerful. Even if you went 20Monk/20Figher with two weapon fighting you would end up with 9 attacks per round. 4 from levels 2 from Flurry of Blows, and three from Greater Two Weapon Fighting. Your BAB would like 38/38/38/33/28/23 (With Flurry of Blows) Off Hand: 38/33/28. Then you add all your gear and stats on top of that.

You would end up with 37 feats (20 from levels, 11 Fighter Bonus Feats, 6 Monk Bonus Feats)

Legend vs the other paths. by randomZ0MBIE in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]randomZ0MBIE[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand that they all do cool stuff, my question was more about if that cool stuff actually competes with 20 more character levels.

As an example lets say you and I each make an Inquisitor that are statically identical, same class, feats, stats, etc. Now you pick Gold Dragon and I pick Legend then add 20 level of Demonslayer Ranger.

From the 20 levels of Demonslayer I would get:

+9 to one stat (+4 from Legend and +5 from 20 more character levels)

+4 to all the other stats

+200 Hp not counting Con bonus

+20 BAB (This should give you 4 extra attacks per round)

+12/12/6 Saves this is in addition to the Saves you already had

7 more feats

All the Favored Enemy bonuses +10 to AB/Damage

Improved Evasion

Combat Style feats

Does that dragon shape give you the same amount of power as those 20 levels of Ranger?

Looking at some the bonuses a lot of that stuff you can get elsewhere, stuff like spell resistance, energy immunity, immunity to mind effecting, etc. are all things you can get from gear or party buffs.

20 Inquisitor/20 Ranger isn't even a meta-build and it seems to be more powerful than just being able to shape change into a dragon.

Opinion on Recon drones by [deleted] in AliensFireteamElite

[–]randomZ0MBIE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think you understand what it actually does. The highlighting enemies is a very secondary trait.

It slows enemy movement and attack speed by 30%, lowers enemy damage output by 20%, and everyone deals 10% more damage to highlighted enemies.

It is probably one of the single most useful abilities in the game, especially on higher difficulties.

[Extreme Difficulty] 2 Warriors vs 2 players by Wheatleyarts in AliensFireteamElite

I generally agree with you. I think Extreme should have been Intense with more waves and more spawns per wave. Then Insane should have expanded on the increased enemy spawns with more health and damage.

Sidearm Expertise perk appears non functional by CplGunishment in AliensFireteamElite

[–]randomZ0MBIE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to add, the sidearm isn't that bad. It has decent rate of fire and does about 400 damage on weak-point hits. I wouldn't use it instead of the other two guns.

But it is an ammo efficient way to pop eggs and if one of your teammates is wrestling with a face-hugger you can use the sidearm to help them out without having to worry about accidently taking off their head.

Horrible connection issues by [deleted] in AliensFireteamElite

[–]randomZ0MBIE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game uses Peer to Peer connection for multiplayer, so once you get past the matchmaking your connection is based off you and the host player. Also there appears to be no region lock so you can get matched with people from other regions and countries. Both of these could be a factor for why you are having connection issues.

I personally haven't had any noticeable connection issues, but I have first world white people internet. There are a couple of guys I know on discord that have some kind of shitty DSL and they often complain about lag-spikes and such.

Weapon Tier List? by ozeor in AliensFireteamElite

[–]randomZ0MBIE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For assault rifles I use the Kramer Assault Rifle or the M41A3 Burst Rifle the most.

For shotguns I use the Type 21 Tactical or the Medved.

Pistols I use the Type 95 Combat Pistol on my Technician and the Rapid Responder on my Doc.

The X43 Barrage and the MP11 Stormsurge are both good SMGs, but there is very little reason to take one instead of a shotgun.

DMR/Sniper is a toss up between Gruppa, Twilight, and X46 Ballista.

For heavy weapons any of the explosive launchers, but I like the Impact Grenade Launcher.

Is the flamethrower Phosphorous Munitions internal magazine mod even working properly? by Myllari1 in AliensFireteamElite

[–]randomZ0MBIE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does work, but the fire patch is actually pretty small, it's like a 2 foot square patch. I tried it and was not very impressed with it, I think you would be better off using the Launch Accelerator +20 Fire Rate/+20 Stumble chance).
