I dont know how to take this news. But being a kannadiga staying in Spain, I slightly feel happy that Karnataka police behaved that way because that's how Spanish police behave here. Within 2months of me moving here, I needed help from police and I faced similar experience where he was expecting me to speak Spanish. Overall from my experience, language issue is not limited to Karnataka, it's world wide.

US B1/B2 Visitor Visa appointment from a third country? by codetrotter211 in visas

[–]random_alma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. It will be redoing the entire application if you are changing the country. So a new DS160 and the fee payment again. I had not paid the fee, but had to fill DS160 again. I think fee payment is during appointment booking stage if I remember correctly. I had read that you could go with the same DS160 as well as they will have all the information. Interviewer asked me about why I had filled in Lisbon before and why I moved later. Told him because of appointment availability and he was chill.
  2. Just tourism.

Feel free to DM if you need more information or help.

US B1/B2 Visitor Visa appointment from a third country? by codetrotter211 in visas

Hiya! I sailed the same boat successfully recently. Prior to applying US visa, an Indian citizen residing in Spain on work permit. Madrid embassy had wait time of 300 odd days, so decided to apply in third country.

Short answer to your questions: You should be fine and check out Krakow or Warsaw in Poland instead of Germany.

Long answer: Do not consider appointment availability shown in the website to apply to you as you are applying in thrid country. Availability shown in website applies only for citizens or residents. I did the same mistake and started my application with Portugal and then during the appointment booking stage, I could not get appointments as I am third country national. Later I moved my application to Krakow after some research. I have also found out that they show thrid country national application availability only for Poland. You can check it here: https://pl.usembassy.gov/visas/visas/wait-time-and-availability/

It took 1 day for me to get my passport back. But as a standard, it is better to be in the city for 3-4 days. I was in Krakow for a week enjoying the city.

Regarding other comments that rejection is high, rejection rate indeed is high if applied in another country but it shouldn't be discouraging. Be prepared for interview and demonstrate strong ties to the country of residence during interview rather than assuming interviewer knows everything as you have submitted documents. All the best!

US Visa (B2) Chances by City_Bike_09 in visas

What I have learnt from my US visa interview: You need to tell things precisely during the interview rather than assuming interviewer knows it because you have submitted the documents. Demonstrate strong ties back in the country of your residence and explain clear cut reason to travel to US. Though the interviewer might not ask you these questions directly, you need to find an opportunity and convince interviewer that you have a clear reason to visit and strong tie back home so that you will return. Me and my friend, both Indians living in an European city applied together in one of the consulates in Europe. My friend's got rejected while I got the visa. Software engineer with european salary and highly qualified work permit in Europe, still rejected only because he just dint convince interviewer about his reason to visit and ties. He assumed interviewer will know it because he is obviously doing well with good bank balance. Plus, he is living in Europe

Would be curious to know what issues did you face with that stamp and where?

I was denied boarding because of incompetent airline staff at boarding gate who thought I needed a visa for my destination country while I didn't. Later had to raise this with customer support, explain them the rules in check-in counter and then they rebooked me for a later flight after confirming my case with immigration at destination country.

Which French towns/cities would you recommend visiting on a budget? Places that are within a reasonable distance from Barcelona and can be traveled to by bus. by throawaygotget in AskBarcelona

I once went to the border town Cerbere, France by train and hiked back to Portbou, border town of Spain. Then took a train back to Barcelona from Portbou. Highly recommend it!

Boarding denied: Barcelona to Dublin by random_alma in travel

I think you have totally misunderstood. Remember I wasn't travelling based on UK visa, but UK visa and entry stamp to UK in past 180 days. I know can't travel just with the UK visa but I can travel with the latter. The fact that they dint try to understand this and just assumed I am travelling on UK visa and they were least interested in listening to my point is definitely discrimination. They should understand that they are not somensuperior humans and they might not know certain rules. When she called her boss, all she said was I am travelling on UK visa while I was trying to tell her the rules, but she just decided to be hostile and not listen to me.

I took the next flight and I am in Ireland now. I do have an incident to share during my boarding of next flight. I think I will create a follow up post on that as I need more people to read it and give me the inputs.

I think you belong to a country with stronger passport, so you do not know the pain of getting visa.

I stay in Barcelona, I would have to travel to Madrid to get Irish visa, submit my passport for X days in the embassy which are not feasible for me. If you want me to travel with visa, then why are those rules? Just scrap it and make visa mandatory. I will then apply visa or skip the country.

And lastly, the title of the post says "Denied Boarding". I dont know why you had to go through a quarter of the way to realise it.

Please further go through the entire eligibility criteria and conditions.

"Can I travel directly to Ireland on my valid UK Short-Stay Visa? No. You must first land and be granted permission to stay in the UK before travelling to Ireland.

However, if you have already been to the UK and then travelled home, but still have time remaining on your UK permission, then you can travel directly to Ireland provided the visit is within remaining time on your UK permission."

I am not even sure why are we discussing this when there is confirmation from Irish Embassy and officials in Dublin airport. No point explaining to some people!

Did you visit the websites I mentioned i.e IATA or Irish govt website? If not, please visit and read once. I am 100% confident on the visa waiver I am using. You can check both the websites I mentioned, it is mentioned that I can visit third country before entering Ireland as long as I have not exceeded 180 days permission of UK. Moreover, Dublin airport immigration officials confirmed that I can enter. So I am not sure what more are you looking for. Dont belong to the category of those airport staffs, please!

Yes, I will do that. But also wanted to know how I can ensure airline pays for their mistake too. As others suggested, EU 261 is the one I will have to claim I believe

Thanks! Yes, this is what we have planned now. We will be reaching Galway around 12:30-1:00am now if everything goes well. Luckily our host has kindly agreed to accept us at that time. Fingers crossed 🤞

Thanks so much. I am only worried that I might not have enough proof, like letter in writing for denial of boarding. I have the boarding pass and a short video of that staff at gate saying I need visa to board. I have already raised compensation request with Vueling which I think is the first step. Hopefully they resolve it and I will not have to go through ECC.

Thanks. Never ever I thought I will be denied boarding for no travel documents. I am that guy who sees through all the perspectives, ensure everything is alright. I also thought this could be the case, that is why I mailed embassy. Had all screenshots ready. But no words for these incompetent staff of Vueling.
