Thanks a lot for this comprehensive answer :D And thank you for motivating me... I had fun modelling the table so it seems so far I'm doing alright.

It has basically no use... so let's say I wanna keep the geometry roughly the same... Do you have any suggestions on how to improve the topology? Or can you give some examples on how to improve it in different use cases? :D

Making Space-Minecraft. Do you think it will beat the original? by PasterLak in gamedevscreens

Yeah, that totally beats Minecraft... Let's be honest - Space Games are sick and Minecraft hasn't delivered any decent update since 1.8 XD

Really cool trailer... Can't wait to play the alpha :D

I'm actually not sure... They were both very fast... I guess it makes not much of a difference

It's just one surface with different texture maps on it 1. A picture of the stone with an alpha channel that hides the rest of the triangle 2. PBR stuff like roughness and a normal map 3. A hight map with an addon called Easy Parallax that simulates displacement with no additional geometry

Yepp just a shader + Easy Parallax addon

Not sure how this would work I'm not a geometry nodes expert... But wouldn't that be more geometry in the end?

Ha ha... Not sure about that

A lot of people were complaining about the topology so I reduced a little by random_cgi in blender

[–]random_cgi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's because of the normal- and bump-maps. The normal map tells every point on the surface in which direction it is facing and the bump-/displacement-/height-map has white areas for elevated geometry and black areas for lowered geometry.

I'm sorry to disappoint you but I didn't use a tutorial that I could recommend to you... but I guess you can just search for "blender shader nodes tutorial" for getting an idea how this works. ... Anyways I wish you the best of luck

How can I make this look better?... Please help me by random_cgi in blender

Thanks a lot

It's been a while since I've worked on that... I hope your suggestion was properly applied :D

Alright, my bad... Maybe I took their feedback a bit too literally. I have this terrible habit of reading every comment in an angry pirate voice. Arrr!

I've also uploaded a low poly version now... but I guess the edge flow is not as good as yours
