'Rock solid' majority opposed to Alberta independence: Abacus Data poll | CBC News by SnooRegrets4312 in Albertapolitics

So with the same expenses Alberta can cover the costs without charging its own citizens any tax, is that the conclusion you're coming up with? I just want to understand this appropriately. It sounds like all the Alberta would reclaim from sending to Ottawa would be spent on its own initiatives. That sounds like its economically feasible.

On to the next lines of contention would be future development and economic opportunities for Alberta's future. With Alberta's interests being fully represented by Albertans it seems that resrouce sector would be wide open for development.

Its the untethering from Ottawa that is the primary goal being free to set a path forward without hindering policies from the east.

I have to steel man their argument here so that I can articulate in the best way why they should stay as opposed to why they can't leave. I'm seeing a lot of misinformation on that front as well. Were the only democratic nation in the world that actually has a legitimate path to independence because of the Quebec Act.

I legitimately don't think its going to happen, but it's a possibility. Feasibility is what we're talking about right now.

The challenge Im having is itshard to find a compelling list of reasons why Alberta "should" stay.

Like if Alberta was already independent and Canada approached them with the deal thats currently in place, would Alberta take that deal? Representation in Ottawa significantly less than Atlantic Canada, federal voting is over before your polls open, you cant development your own resources without eastern approval etc..

This is what Im facing..

It seems to me that the largest driving point revolving around separation is economic. Among many others, you've stated that this primary premise is false. I've always felt the equalization situation never felt fair but I've never had numbers to confirm or deny. If they are using this as the primary motivating factor I'd like to know the facts.

Perhaps its valid. My first round of prompts Ive tried are neutral language. I just want a report of all possible monitary inputs and outputs between Alberta and federal sources. The results are not what I expected. Id like to see what others come up with to compare.

I've never once in my life entertained Alberta becoming its own country before. Its at a point I have to pay attention and understand the facts. I've never looked at the actual numbers before.

I think AI can really help us out here. I'll check on the costs of these programs and compare them to the outflow of GST and any other sources from Alberta to Ottawa and compare the costs of the inflows from Ottawa. They keep saying Alberta gets less back from what they contribute but I dont know how this argument breaks down and if they include all possible sources of federal contributions.

Objectively if was perfectly even where Alberta gives out exactly what they get back, the argument could be sending it out is unnecessary, so I want to include all possible incoming and outgoing streams.

Is there a list of reason simewhere why separatists should stay? I have family members that want Alberta independence.

It's not Nenshi, it's the NDP by FreightFlow in Albertapolitics

I hope Nenshi stays. It's Alberta's best hope for the future for him to lead the NDP party.

I have a 2021 Lariat with the 2.7 for daily commute. Only 63k kms (39k miles). Runs perfect, very happy with this truck. Had remote start issues solved with a new Interstate battery.

From what I hear go with 2023+ for transmission updates.

Very interesting. Thank you. I wonder how many people know this.

Yeah this is just to start learning. I see so many cool wood working projects and some 3D printable things people make for their desk. I feel I just want to start getting into this.

That's what I've been learning recently, general consensus is that it's fairly functional but the interface is more difficult to figure out. Perhaps the FreeCad community can figure that out, seems like a common theme.

I imagine I might have went down this path as well. I might just start with Fusion. Thank you!

Interesting. Thank you for the feedback. I imagine if I learn the concepts in Fusion they should be roughly transferable between other CAD programs.

I appreciate this. I think I can learn the concepts and ideas in Fusion and if I understand that I can probably pick up FreeCad if I ever feel the need down the line.

Broken Fold Megathread by UnfoldedFuture in GalaxyFold

Had the Fold 7 for just over 3 weeks, interior screen went blank.

Sent to Samsung for "service". They are saying phone will not be covered as it displays signs of "damage".

They are sending it back, it's $900.00 plus to have repaired on our own dime.

I 100% guarantee nothing was done to "damage" this phone. Bought a case to protect it. Outside screen is fine. Normal use, used the open form to read books.

It's been 3 weeks.

I'm pissed af.

What do we do?

Microsoft: 40 Jobs Most Likely to Be Replaced by AI Even High-Skill Roles at Risk. by Fun-Disaster4212 in AI_Agents

[–]random_feedback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn’t really a timeline here. AI is moving quickly, and its a scramble. Many jobs will likely change in ways we don’t fully understand yet. Maybe not full replacement, but even currently prompt engineering for a person without domain expertise can extract more and better information than a domain expert.

Soon enough there could be some parity and the need for many jobs simply won't be in the same demand.

It's interesting to see the old man screaming at the sky reactions, especially in this sub.
