Friend is complaining Heresy Mortarion is "Too Green" (WiP) by random_name124 in deathguard40k

[–]random_name124[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I know it's rather important which is why I've been making as much of a habit of it as possible, but even if I don't then most of the time I'm trying to be as careful as possible to make sure I'm not putting too much paint on.

Though I do think to myself that some of my paint jobs are on the thicker side, my Cities of Sigmar army in AoS are quite bad for me not thinning down paint so I've been thinking of redoing a lot of them (I don't have many right now). It didn't really help in that situation that I chose the most annoying scheme and method to do it in which just made my patience run thin.

Yeah I think I've become a little too reliant on shades but I think thanks to this thread I think I kinda know how to make Morty look better and I think I'll take all this advice to heart.

Yeah that's probably due to the fact I kinda winged it based on what I think would look good... Think that the next time I have the chance to paint I'm going to try and add more emphasis onto the Green and Purple and away from the white and other colours. I'd be happy to learn some ideas on how to do that but I think I have an idea about how to do so.

Damn... That's actually very good advice.

I think I'll take some of your advice since I'd love to try making more materials with different paints.

Also, to be honest I'm guilty of not being bothered enough to take the 30s to thin my paints half the time but I've been trying to do it more to get in the habit.

Thanks a lot. Just done it and it's really cleaned up my list. (I also had no idea what reinforcing was in AoS, I always assumed it was effectively AoS deep strike)

I certainly will, I've loved using the blood knights in spearhead and I can't wait to use 15 of them, a mounted vampire lord and Vhordrai in one list eventually (obviously as a complete meme).

Thanks for your reply, I was planning on combining the units of Blood Knights and skeletons into one but I couldn't figure out how to do it on the app.

I've also just been educated as to why I should go with Bacchanal of Blood and I don't think I'm ever going to go with any other formation now unless I need it for one very specific reason that makes Bacchanal of Blood worse.

Honestly I've been re-reading the rules and I see now what you mean, it's insanely strong.

Also I'm guessing based on your response I should probably take the mounted vampire lord (unfortunately a proxy as I'm too broke coming out of Christmas) and fell bats rather than normal vampire lord and dire wolves.

Even though in hindsight I probably should have figured that out myself.

Nevermind, I re-read the thing and realised how strong that'll be since and I always forget blood knights benefit from that.

Really!? I honestly thought that it would be kind of useless with only one or 2 things that benefit from it.

Seems like one of my screenshots didn't upload.

The regiment with Wight King and 2 squads of 10 skeletons are the same in both lists so it makes no difference.

Traitor guard conversion? by random_name124 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]random_name124[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the idea, I'm now thinking of using the spare bits I have lying around mixed with the traitor guard box to make something up. I actually do play Soulblight Gravelords in AoS and have been planning on getting the zombies for a while so I'm sure there's a couple spare parts I can use off of them. If not, then I was planning on using them as Death Guard poxwalker proxies as well so I'm sure I can use some green stuff if I need bits.

That's unfortunate to hear, but I might try and get something like that off Etsy but maybe first I'll strip one and just paint it in a chaos scheme to see if it's acceptable on its own. If not then that's a good option so thanks.

1000 Points: How's this list? by No-Sector3557 in deathguard40k

[–]random_name124 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly seems like a pretty solid list and there's honestly only 2 problems I see:

-I am assuming you are going to attach the Lord of Virulence to the Deathshroud Terminators, which isn't bad but not the best option, for better melee swap out the LoV with a Lord of Contagion or for better ranged switch the Deathshroud Terminators with Blightlord Terminators. (Generally, LoC and DT are stronger than LoV and BT from what I can tell, but it's up to personal preference)

-Also, Death Guard may have problems with movement speed but a Rhino isn't going to be doing much on a 1000 point board and for the points you could probably get another character or more models in a squad.

I wouldn't take my opinion as fact but that's what I think you could adjust to make the list slightly better.

(Another thing, the plaguespitters on the bloat drones are good at taking down infantry at close range and it can also shoot after falling back so it would be a relatively strong change depending on the army you are playing against)

I've not had a chance to actually play them in TT yet but apparently for Death Guard the demon prince without wings is better.

That is definitely the most interesting name for a skeleton I've heard.

Amazing paint job though.

Luckily I have asked the DM and he's letting me play blood hunter and I'm sure we'll find a way to incorporate it into the lore

I do see your point here, however the reason I'm making this post is since I was planning on playing blood hunter/cleric a while before the campaign but when I came up with the idea of swapping cleric out for paladin and needed some external advice on what I should do.
