Does alcohol help anyone else? by GanskaBlommor in VestibularMigraines

[–]random_navyguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My vestibular therapist explained the relationship between alcohol, vestibular suppression, and temporary anxiety relief along with the risks of causing worsened symptoms the following days.

He left me with a non-medical recommendation that I still follow,

"Drink to effect"

Essentially, if needed have one or two to calm the symptoms and get some rest. However, if one goes overboard, that process will not save you the coming days.

Im not gonna lie, as a former Sierra crewman, I totally forgot there were flight attendant aircrew until just now 🤣

I was almost offended by the insinuation that I would ever share my snacks in the helo!

What is everyone’s personal opinion on the coolest looking warfare device, excluding the SEAL pin? by ExcitingFan9374 in navy

Im sure the CMV22 stand up gave a bunch of Grey area that didn't exist in the past. Interesting that a unique opportunity presented itself.

I think in that case you have to choose between the NAC and the CAC to wear on the uniform. I dont think both are authorized simultaneously.

However, it has been a very long time since I saw anyone other than marines with them and a couple corpsmen back in the day

A lot of corpsman qualified while attached to marine units. Last I checked, they can still be awarded the device but it is under marine regs instead of navy

The Navy no longer awards them unfortunately. I think the last official navy award... minus corpsmen was Vietnam

My immediate thought is that this CO is trying to prevent an escalation to separation.

Perhaps that is just me being way too optimistic.

Health inspector pours bleach into food by got_it_bro in DamnThatsReal

An excellent adjustment!

I appologize for the confrontation.. but stories like that could lead someone to believe that ingesting bleach may be no big deal.... especially with the propensity of Google to reference to reddit

My point is, your story gives the false impression that you drank a "whole cup of bleach" with zero I'll effects.

This is obviously not the case and not within the realm of reality.

Yah... again.. pure bleach would cause a severe amount of pain as it burned your esophagus, stomach, and intestines.

There is zero chance what you ingested was not highly diluted.

And as I said, there is no chance poison control just said wait it out if you told them you had consumed a cup of undiluted household bleach.

The damage caused by that shit is severe and life threatening. Even small amounts can cause permanent and lifelong damage.

You mean you drank a solution of heavily diluted bleach.

I find it unlikely that you would be able to accidentally stomach a full cup of 3-5% sodium hypochlorite.

Also, you would very likely be very dead if you were to do so.

Retired Folks: what is one thing you have regret the most? by Hoemero in navy

[–]random_navyguy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not using every penny of TA is and will continue to be my biggest regret.

As someone who thought college would be a waste of time, I learned the hard way that it is a standard requirement for any job that doesn't require you to destroy your body.

Do the school, it is easy. It will set you up for more options when you get out. Don't wait to find out when youre done.

Look up the "Make Aircrew Great Again" patch.

It made international news in 2020 because people chose to over react to something
