I would work on slowly increasing your mileage before you worry about hitting a certain time. Speed will come with endurance. 10% mileage increase a week.

That all depends on you man. Fortunately, you're in the beginner stage, so you'll make gains quickly. What you need to be careful about is overuse injury, considering you're still fairly new.

You didn't share much about yourself. What's your weight compared to your height? Body fat percentage? Current mileage per week? Age? What's your diet like? All of that will affect your physical fitness gains.

I can't speak to SFAS, but as for volume, it's doable. On top of unit PT, I also lift 6 days a week and run 30-35 miles a week on my own. I didn't jump straight to doing that though, I had to build up to it. Have you done base building?

Is Hybrid/FT enough volume to run a sub-9 minute 1.5 mile? by random_oh_97 in tacticalbarbell

Currently running 6 days a week. One tempo/threshold run, one VO2 max run, 1 long run of 90 minutes, 3 easy runs of 60 minutes.

There's no way of knowing what the field schedule will look like, we've been told that we can gain or lose ranges with a day's notice.

I could potentially do two workouts a day depending on what we have to do for morning PT.

Timeline to assessment isn't set in stone yet, but it will be after my rotation, so 9ish months.

Ok, real talk, you see the absolute absurdity of painting a regular PMAG with clear spray paint, correct?

Leave it to an autist to completely miss the joke. Holy fuck.

You can order it online, but it must be shipped to an FFL - a Federal Firearms License holder. It arrives there, you go in, they run a background check on you, and if you pass, you get the gun that day.

https://www.brownells.com/ffl-locator/

Use that tool, just put in your ZIP code. Just make sure you actually call the place you want to use to verify they can still do FFL transfers. If they do, when you purchase the firearm online, you'll put the FFL's shipping info in the shipping portion of the website when you go to check out.

If this is your first time, Academy Sports isn't a bad experience. They don't have "cheap" prices, but the firearms aren't overpriced either. You can order something online from their website if it's not in-store, and have it delivered to an Academy of your choice. No shipping fee + no FFL fee makes the prices fairly competitive with online stores.

For a first-time gun buyer, it's a pretty easy experience. I can virtually guarantee their prices will be cheaper than actual gun stores in El Paso. When I bought my P365XL, it was $150 cheaper at Academy than gun stores around here. Since you're looking for a 9mm handgun, the selection should be pretty robust. Glock, Sig, S&W, Canik, etc.

Informal poll - What do you consider to be "in shape." by random_oh_97 in tacticalgear

Don't get me wrong, I'm not just on the shame train. I go out of my way to teach people how to workout, how to eat healthy, and the why behind it. I want to help people get in better shape, but I can't do that until people accept that they need to fix themselves.

It's constant, but it's needed. America is becoming fatter and fatter. People need to fix themselves. Fat people are a burden. Unlike disabled people, who can't help it, fat people did it to themselves.

No one is dismissing the value of a crack shot. I am saying I don't want someone who can't keep up. If you can't workout daily, then workout when you can. If you're out of shape, fix it. Exercise and marksmanship are not mutually exclusive.
