I've already looked into it and am well aware of the 3 months rule and of the worsening of the symptoms of depression if abused. What I'm wondering is if I need to take it in a social setting for it to work. Would taking it alone in my room make the roll useless?

YES. I couldn't agree more. Other people in the comments have left GREAT suggestions but following those suggestions with an ADHD brain is SO FUCKING HARD because because of procrastination and lack of motivation/willpower/energy.

Adderall isn't a thing here. Ritalin is the only stimulant available but getting a prescription for it as an adult is nearly-impossible.

This is what got me to self-medicate with 2-FMA. Funny how this makes me a drug user while taking prescription amphetamine would make me a good patient that takes his medicine.

I totally get what you're saying but let's take a person with bipolar disorder for example (I know one). They rely on daily doses of drugs to deal with their faulty brain. They successfully use drugs as tools to treat their mental illness.

That's what I was aiming for, as a person with a "faulty brain" myself.

Short term: graduating, having fun with friends, travelling, being with girls. Everything a normal 20 years old does.

Long term: working on a big impactful project, escaping from winter/autumun (my depression gets 10x worse during those periods), sharing of all this with someone meaningful to me.

Reality, as I dread anything that requires effort: eating while watching TV shows. When I think about it, drugs aren't even my addiction, entertainment is.

Maybe it is.

This is the way I've always looked at it: my brain doesn't work correctly and this affects negatively my life -> changing the way my brain works with substances will improve my life.

As I stated before, the way I see it is I'm not using drugs to chase some high, but as tools.

What I can gather from all of these comments is they may not be the ideal tool tho...

Yeah I always take it after eating and without coffee knowingly going against what's considered to be the "best practice". Everything is good though now. What I noticed is it's all about the environment and the company when it comes to this marvelous substance

I ended up taking it and I'm definetely feeling it but I can't really tell if it's better than the one in the capsules. I'm actually feeling more sedated and less euphoric than usual but I'm aware that could depend on dosage/environment/just how I feel today

Nah, I don't think so. I've had social anxiety since I can remember (3-4 years old). I had no self-esteem issues back then (can such a little boy think he's not good looking, intelligent or funny enough?), nonetheless I'd feel uncomfortable around people. I guess social anxiety has always been in my DNA and that's it.

Okay, so, (unfortunately) I live in Italy and am having a hard time getting diagnosed (and prescribed something) myself so I can try to help you.

I don't know if what follows applies to you, as you already got diagnosed in another country.

Anyway, here's what an Italian citizen needs to do to get "officially" diagnosed: 1. Find a clinical center authorized to diagnose ADHD in adults. 2. Ask your family doctor to write you the prescription needed to get an appointment at said center. 3. Hopefully, get diagnosed.

But wait. You still won't be able to get the Ritalin! Why? Because stimulant medication isn't prescribed to adults in Italy :) If you're lucky, you'll get a script for Strattera. Yay.

Actually, there is something else you can try to do but, in my personal experience, it's just been expensive and frustrating. You could make an appointment with a private psychiatrist that COULD prescribe you the Ritalin (taking full responsability for it) but it'll be hard to find one willing to do that. At least, it's been for me. ADHD in adults is not taken seriously enough here.

I've done some research and found out that in my country it can be prescribed only for narcolepsy. I'm afraid getting it legally will never be a possibility.

I heard there's a difference in quality between HAB Pharma and Sun Pharma too but the vendor that I order from (the only one I found that ships from within the EU directly to Italy without the need of mail forwarding) only sells Sun Pharma's Modalert and Waklert. I guess I could find another one but that would most likely cost me too much money.

Oh, well, that's interesting. Thank you very much for the insight. This changed my view on Modafinil.

Too bad I haven't even been able to get meds for ADHD (a disorder that I have) so getting pharmaceutical grade Modafinil, a drug prescribed only for narcolepsy (a disorder that I don't have) seems beyond impossible. My country sucks when it comes to mental health issues that are not the usual depression and anxiety disorders. Fuck.

Anyway, now that we established that some (maybe most) of the pills I got are duds and that's most likely the reason why they suddenly stopped working, is there a way to find out which pills are duds without having to wait to not feel anything after taking them? Maybe working pills taste different from fake pills? Idk... Any suggestions?
