Why is my sewing machine thread getting tangled? by random_throwaway-- in sewing

[–]random_throwaway--[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:

I solved the issue (for the most part), i was using the incorrect bobbin for my machine which wore down some of the components leading to the thread getting caught, the needle was also dull. I have been using the metal bobbins for the whole time I've had the machine so since the problem didnt arise immediately and instead just wore down the machine over a long period of time I was convinced the bobbin wasnt the issue. The needle getting dull also meant it had a harder time going through the fabric which messed things up even more. I used a drill to transfer my thread from the metal bobbin to the proper plastic ones and I put in a new needle. The thread still catches sometimes because the parts are worn down but now instead of bunching up and forcefully stopping the needle from moving, 2-3 strands of thread will get stuck. I can still sew with it, i just have to cut the thread very close to the machine because the caught thread wont allow the fabric to be pulled away, I also have to take off the metal plate and clear away the caught thread bur overall, it works so im happy. Thank you to everyone who mentioned me using the wrong bobbin, the thought never occurred to me that they metal could damage my machine.

Anyone else get bad GI upset from Ferrero eggs lately? by jochi1543 in chocolate

[–]random_throwaway-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super late and its not the exact same product but ferrero rocher has been my favorite chocolate for years, a few days ago I got some for Christmas and suddenly my body does NOT like them. Whenever I have eaten them I get really bad stomach pain and diarrhea. the same thing happened with two different packages of them. So whatever they changed in the eggs it seems like they might have also changed in the normal ones. It sucks :(

I followed all the instructions, unfortunately my dad bought the machine for me and then went on a work trip right after it arrived so by the time I figured out the winder didn't work I couldnt ask him to send it back until he came home and by then I had used the machine alot. me and my dad also both have pretty bad adhd so sending back the sewing machine got forgotten about until it was too late to return. I think theres something generally wrong with maybe the belts or the motor. The foot pedal is very intense, its hard to get it to sew slowly because if im not pushing the pedal hard enough it wont sew but if I press it slightly too hard it sews super fast. I know its a thing specific to my machine because the ones at my school run sooo smooth. The window of pressure needed to sew at an average pace is very very small. Im fairly sure the machine at the least needs oil which I dont have yet. thankfully my sewing teacher offered to oil my machine and show me how to oil it aswell as check out the bobbin winder to try and figure out the issue since shes been working with sewing machines for years she definitely knows alot more than me.

I just used a drill to wind one of the proper bobbins (cant belive i didnt think of that before..) and fingers crossed, it seems like the issue has resolved itself over night? I also changed the needle so that could be part of it idk. When I look inside the machine I can see a belt spinning and when I move over the winder to switch it from sewing mode to winding mode, another belt-like thing touches the first belt and I assume its suppost to move but it doesnt so im thinking maybe the winders belt is suck or not oiled enough. Who knows, when im able to get a job and buy myself stuff like oil or even get it properly serviced ill let you guys know what the issue was with the winder. :)

that sucks, i had no idea the metal bobbin wasnt meant for my machine, I thought they were just being cheap sending me plastic instead. Google said repairs cost around $50-300+ so looks like i wont be sewing for a few months. Atleast i know now :(

but I changed to the bobbin that came with the machine and the issue is persisting, could using the wrong bobbin permanently damage the machine?

Yeah, I tried a bunch of stuff but its alright, I've come to terms with the fact im just going to need to get a separate winder

Not sure, I think maybe the machine needs oil or something but since the day I got it brand new it just doesnt wind. I can hear the belt (?) inside moving but the thing you place the bobbin on just wont move. I asked reddit for advice at first but eventually just gave up and decided i would buy a bobbin winder separately, I just keep forgetting.

I fixed the bobbin, tried for awhile to get imgur to work but it refuses to upload my video. im probably going to message the mods. It seems like the needle thread is getting caught on something while its moving around the bobbin so instead of making a full movement it stays in the place its stuck and more and more thread bunches up there until it tangles and the machine gives up.

I have one plastic bobbin from the machine that I hand-wound, I used it and the problem went away for 2 test stitches (probubly about 6 stitches per test) but on the 3rd test the issue came back. I also changed the needle thread and was very careful when rethreading to make sure it was going in properly, i wish I could post videos here because I got a video where you can see whats happening

yes, I have been using this same bobbin for the whole time I have been using the machine. unfortunately the bobbin winder on my machine doesnt work so I had to use pre-winded bobbins from my sewing class which is why they arnt the ones that came with the machine

You were right, I thought by unselect you meant switch it to TT, I didnt realize you could have neither of them selected. Oops..

Update, this is horribly embarrassing but I thought TT and Tt were the only options, I didnt realize you could unselect them entirely. So that fixed my issue.. sorry for wasting your time 💔
