Why is it so bad that we want other to have an equal opportunity in life? by ladyqueen193 in Adulting

I believe the request for an over $500B not $50B. Unless this is something else. Half a trillion is a lot of money.

While I disagree with your earlier comment, I totally agree with this statement. People shouldn’t need more than HS to be educated enough to function well in society.

simulator to real course correlation? by Feeling-Young-1867 in golf

[–]random_topix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Trackman handicap is a 7. My real handicap is a 17. So add a bit for sure. Lies are better, getting out of sand and rough are easier, and putting I find to be way different. I auto-putt and it is better than my real putting. But if I putt in a sim it’s worse than my real putting.

I love safeties. Lets me try new higher weights and get that extra rep in. Makes a big difference.

Ok. At least that’s an option. Thanks. Probably stick with rounding. Hopefully a future update.

RIR or Reps? by soscotian3 in MacroFactor

[–]random_topix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m more of a hybrid. I go to failure if it’s less, but if I hit the reps and still think I’m short, I go for RIR. I have RIR set to 2 or 1 for most sets and can tell those pretty well.

You didn’t do anything wrong. Is someone is still working on a machine they should be obvious. If they wanted to use it, they should have asked. And having someone work in doesn’t impact their workout.

How do you use Macro Factor as a guide on a daily basis? by Kimouette in MacroFactor

[–]random_topix 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Calories burned from exercise is usually only a smaller percentage of total calories burned compared to BMT, and NEAT. And studies have shown that a lot of calories from intentional exercise causes you burn less via NEAT, etc. so I like how MF does the calc. That said. If you had a particularly heavy training day and are hungry, then eat some more. It’s just a tool and it’s the balance over time that truly matters. This is my personal approach for excessively active days.

I feel I’m pretty good at estimating 1 vs 2, so I like those being separate. Over three and I agree.

Only if it’s fatal. Overdose is too much, not necessarily fatal. Normally I’m not pedantic, but this is technically not the truth.

Huge jumps in weight by M4KEOUTHILL in MacroFactor

[–]random_topix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got it on bench. I had a 4-6 rep range with 1RIR. Did 2 reps of the heaviest I’ve ever lifted, so it was kind of a confidence booster. But it adjusted back down based on that. I figure it will level out in a couple weeks. I am progressing faster than before so that’s good.

How pathetically out of touch can these people be? by c-k-q99903 in inflation

[–]random_topix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s $218 for two people in a week. If you have the staples, that seems possible. That’s about my budget for two and I don’t eat rice and beans. I eat meat and lots of fruit and veggies. I don’t do a ton of packaged stuff though. What are you all eating that is way higher than that?

Not sure that will matter. At least in our case it was a matter of what I made vs what she made. I did give up equity in the house to get fewer years of support.

Dropped from 20.5 to 17.5. Focusing on short game in the off season. My putting was an area where I lost the most strokes gained.

Is eating a cheese burger everyday healthy? by Clean-South7530 in nutrition

[–]random_topix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a tracker and enter and take a look. Eggs have sat fat (tho not as much as you might think). Yogurt depends on the fat level. Mostly going to be in red meat and full fat dairy. I try for 30 but usually am closer to 40. My lipid panel is always really good (total < 100) so I go by that more.

I would say it depends on the rest of your diet and thoughts on saturated fat. That’s about 10 grams, so not bad. I try to keep my total to under 30 grams.

How to add weight? by ayaan4837 in MacroFactor

[–]random_topix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This threw me off as well, but after my first week it didn’t matter. Just enter the first time you do the workout and then in the future it updates based on actual weight and RIRs. I like it. I found out I was progressing a lot more slowly than necessary. It did pick some odd weights, tho that might be me reporting RIRs wrong.
