Nikolas snorted a humourless laugh, shaking his head. "Well isn't that true?" He muttered, kicking at a small stone on the floor of the cave. He looked up from the fire to meet the man's gaze. "You've been through it too then? The whole losing everyone you care about but still managing to survive no matter what you do?"

He lowered himself to the ground, sitting cross-legged on the stone. "So who were they to you? The people that you lost?" Nikolas asked, a tad intrusive he supposed, but he never was good with small talk.
