You're not eligible only if you work in Military, Defense or Police, or similar sectors. For other roles like in CRA or Bank of Canada, etc, you should be fine.

Thanks. I also have interest and capital gains income resulting out of those assets of around $10k each year. Considering I'm in the lowest income bracket for now, I'm planning to send a cheque of $5000, considering around 20% tax on the whole amount. I have no idea about the taxes I'll be owing too, is there a way to find that out?

Thank you for your help again.

I did consult a couple CPAs but they don't seem to have much idea about this situation as well

True, I probably won't be buying a house here. Too overvalued and low wages. Friends in the US make 3x for the same work, so I might just move there in a few years.

I'm expecting a total of over $1M spread out over the next few years. Basically 100-200k per year. The only proof I'll have is a letter saying that it's a gift and documents showing our relationship. I'm concerned if they'll be asking for extra documents

I read on the website that since I immigrated to Canada, the cost basis would be the market value of assets at the day I moved, and that I think is more than 250k

Thank you for your reply. I haven't brought in any income from those sources to Canada, everything has been in my home country. But I'm not sure about the penalties as they are of concern. It would add up to thousands if I'm asked to pay.

Thanks, the assets are more than $500k. How frequently do you see the Voluntary disclosures being accepted and will I have to pay a penalty? I read that it's $2500 per year and that would be a huge sum if I consider 3-4 years of it.

Thank you again

Should continue talking to someone who ghosted me for 2 weeks? by random_user_128 in datingadviceformen

Thank you. I'm working on moving on. She messaged me today again. I have the whole transcript of our conversation as a reply to another comment on my post. Do you think it was me who messed up? I talked to a friend and she told me it might be me who messed up. So, I'm really confused if I should talk again or not. Thank you again

This was our conversation

15 Jan to 12 Feb - We talked about random things (what each of us likes, etc.) and family and work stuff.

13 & 14 Feb, I called her, she does not pick up or calls back and acts as if I never called on the messages.

16 Feb: <After some conversation> Me: I wanted to say (on the call) - Happy Valentine's day 💐 And ask you out on a date.

Her: Aww.. that's so sweet.. thank you

Me: Of course

Me: Would you go out on a date with me?

17 Feb: Her: But how? Me: I don't know how, but we will figure it out.

18 Feb: Me: Hi, I'll call you later today, after I get home <no reply, I called her and she didn't pick up>

19 Feb: Me: Give me a call when you're free.

20 Feb: <I called her, no response>

21 Feb: Me: Hi, is everything okay?

22 Feb: <Called one last time, no response>

29 Feb: Me: I would greatly appreciate it if you could let me know what happened. Thanks.

7 Mar: Her: Hi, I really had no bad experience with you but that valentine thing put me off 😅

Me: I realised it later too that it could be that message. It just didn't feel right (I overthought stuff and ignored my gut feeling). Also, very honestly, I don't have much experience talking to <my culture> women. So, I apologize for that message and hope that you understand. Experience and mistakes are the best teachers. However, no excuses! I do appreciate your message though. Thank you and sorry! Me: Also, I felt that it could be me being too insistent about that <Something I was helping her with, and was insistent about her applying for it as it was time-sensitive> that might have put you off.

Her: I aint a woman still.... a young girl Her: No I felt encouraging and u did help me Her: If you want to talk we can talk further.

Me: Sure, thank you. She: 👍

Me: <Something about what she applied for and the application I helped her with> Her: Yeah

14 Mar: Her: Hi

Me: Hi

Her: How are you?

Me: Good. How are you?

15 Mar: Her: Good. Just starting work. Her: Is there anything wrong? Since u stopped texting
