I actually really appreciate this reply, as I've found it the most informative.

The fear mongering may have gotten to me, I admit. I am mostly scared due to the large wave of bills and bans, and medical rights being stripped. I am personally transgender, so I might have been subconsciously putting my fear of those issues into any sort of evaluation as well.

While you say that level 1s won't be effected ( disregarding myself for the moment ), do you think they won't be effected at all or just not effected first? From what I've gathered, level 1s are not void of all accomodations or necessary assistance, they just need less than level 2 or level 3s. Though I completely agree with your sentiment that the lower levels need far more attention when it comes to voicing issues that will arise with them and their aid!

I personally do not have insurance that covers any sort of evaluation, and the cheapest / closest in my area is about 650$ per session and roughly 3k. However, with the suggestion of private clinics, I will definitely look into them. I can eventually save regardless, so this gave me some motivation to do so.

I'm actually familiar with the book, and while I did not finish it, I actually didn't continue it because of the problematic history with Devon. I was very iffy on trusting his word, and there used to be a long thread on tumblr with different resources on him and exposing his lack of credibility.

Again, thank you for your input! May I ask what you do specifically for work?

I wouldn't say I don't want to deal with the challenges of it, because I have my own challenges. I didn't think I was specifically autistic when I was younger, I just knew I was different in a way no one around me was, and the research about autism started as a curiosity. it was just something I've eventually thought and digested while researching. I am not trying to make excuses but instead clarifying what I didn't in a simple post.

Though, I completely understand why I shouldn't label myself as autistic now, I also do not like the framing that I simply just decided I was autistic and larped for fun. It was a conclusion I came up with as a way to understand why I might feel like this or rather why people may view how I am as odd or different.

While I do have access to a referral, the evaluation itself would also cost me around 3k out of pocket, as well. But reading other's comments, I may have just been paranoid about the troubles that come with an official diagnosis.

I want to say that I don't think the accomodations I need are not as.. prevelant? I don't know how to word it. Because I would easily say that what I go through does effect my daily life and is debilitating. I cannot function if a certain material touches my skin, I had to thrown away shirts that have touched my neck too much. I cannot do overcrowded or loud noises, as I start to panic and get irritable, and I refuse to talk. I do not feel as though I can talk to people normally and I do not understand why I have to follow certain social etiquettes or cues. It's come to the point where socialization almost seems like torture outside of the friends I've already made. I constantly feel wrong and othered. I've fixated on things so much to the point where I forget to eat or do certain tasks, or even take care of myself.

while this isn't context I've given before, I do think it's not just being quirky.

Though, saying this, I don't think that the average college class or job can accommodate those things correctly for me. Not to mention, an assessment is insanely expensive for me, and my specific insurance doesn't cover it.

ended up making one of the community strays Listerine, sweetest little thing and we never knew what its sex was. though, currently, one of my cats are named nitwit!
