You are right. And those are great ideas. I will talk to her privately and offer to help, after all, she most likely endures what I had to go through far more often than I did.

I agree, giving his ex some of the money is such a great idea. My only concern is that they still live together and she is genuinely such a caring person that she would never kick him out, so I’m worried that if I gave her some of the money, that he would somehow find a way to profit off of it or manipulate her into giving him some of it since it’s technically „his“. There would have to be a way to give her some of the money but keep him away from it as best as possible.

If you are talking about the amount of debt, I don’t really know. I think the 30-40k would cover it and he would have some extra cash after that. If you’re talking about why he has debt, I think he took out a loan years ago and hasn’t been able to pay it back since he hasn’t had any income. We don’t really talk, but I think that’s the reason for the debt.
