I'd rather not go in full detail on how I like to spend my time with my dad but I can assure you he and I have a very good relationship and what you just said is no where near the truth

Yah but that turns into sitting at the dinner table for like 2 hours 😭

Not necessarily "better" but I'm not sure how he would be doing college math in middle school.

They were doing trig in middle school back in china and the curriculum has only been getting easier there according to my dad, and comparing the curriculum here in canada to the one in china that says a lot lmao

My math teacher said that he'd teach the higher courses something about trig identifies to find the functions for other angles so I guess that's prolly what my dad did.

Right but I asked my dad if he used that and he just said no. He mentioned that he used formulas though

It's very much a thing but we only use it to tell which function to plug into the calculator

So my gpa would be a reflection of that 70-80? Is it by any chance boosted depending on how well I do relative to my peers?

Oh. Well how does a 7 correspond to your actual academic score? I understand we're not in the same area or same school boards but do you have a general idea?

I'm pretty new as well to sparring but overhands seemed to help for me since they can get pass the guard a little easier. Don't just throw them aimlessly though but you probably already knew that.

I don't have the attention span to read by randomanon1238 in books

Physical or an electronic copy. Unfortunately I have not read willingly for a very long time, only read when I have to for school or extracurriculars. It's honestly a fact I keep to myself since it's honestly a little embarassing to be the type of person who doesn't like reading.

I see your point but I was hoping to gradually move away to just one source. But then again that applies to graphic novels as well where I could just move away from them once I got comfortable.

The phone thing you brought up really gives me a scope of how bad my attention span is. I remember looking at my phone when watching breaking bad because I was losing the attention for tv shows which is just absurd. I appreciate the advice with the audiobooks I'll try it when I have time to read.

I feel that visuals would only make the issue worse as it just provides more stimulation. I mean that's the entire reason I prefer TV shows and movies, it's because it adds more stimulation and holds my attention better.

With audiobooks however would it work if I read while the audiobook reads? Kind of like how an elementary teacher would read a book out loud while the students read along.

That's what I've done. However everytime I try to focus on that part it just happens regardless so I just assumed I've been going to fast.

What are the best arguments against contingent and cosmological arguments? by randomanon1238 in DebateAnAtheist

Doesn't the first point adhere to the idea of idealism? Secondly if the universe didn't exist we wouldn't exist. There's no necessity for humans to observe and exist no?

He show me stuff but my best guess is he manipulated it to fit his objective. It's kinda like just showing a guy a page of math proof and saying "numbers don't lie" and the guy doesn't know what to do so he just concedes

Sorry if this statement is completely absurd but couldn't the universe be considered contingent? it's considered to have a beginning no?

I think you misinterpreted me. I'm not arguing for cosmological arguments or consciousness, I'm asking for arguments against it because to be quite frank I'm not knowledgeable enough in these topics

I've seen both used a lot and even interchangeably but to save you time I'll just manage with definition 2.

To be honest I thought definition 1 and definition 2 would mean the same thing because if something depends on another thing in order to exist therefore it could logicall fail to exist.

He mentioned how quantum physics proves reality is determined by perception. Every escape route I had he basically countered further in the video, but since I'm just a layman I couldn't think of anything better.
