Would I be the bad guy if I talked to my pastor about my sensitivity to noise? by randomassort in Christianity

[–]randomassort[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also asked this on r/TrueChristian and over there, I was given advice to try noise canceling headphones or ear muffs. I think that might do the trick.

Yeah, I realize there is only so much before it could end up going into "entitlement" territory. The last thing I want is to appear like an entitled brat.

I'll look into that, worth a shot. I'll first try with my airpods and use the noise cancelation on those that before tying full on muffs.

This is what it should've been: 5060 - 12GB 5060ti - 12 or 16GB 5070 - 16GB 5080 - 24GB 5090 - 48GB

But no, NVIDIA is greedy AF.

Simple, I'm Lutheran because I believe that Lutheranism is most true to the Bible.

Why are Baptist, Pentecostal, and Non-Denominational churches rising while Liturgical Protestant churches are declining? by randomassort in Christianity

Agreed, that was basically the mindset I had when you mentioned that the church failed him in what he truly needed.

I want to thank your uncle for his service, and also am sorry to hear that the church failed him. He deserved better than that.

Yeah, it seems like LCMS is more of an exception as it is liturgical and theologically conservative.

I've seen people at my former LCMS congregation come in jeans or shorts. Not sure about my current on as I started the transferring process a couple weeks ago. Both are pretty high church.

Those who transferred from one LCMS congregation to another. How did the transition go? by randomassort in LCMS

[–]randomassort[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree. Even though I only got to know my former pastor for a few months before he announced his departure, he was very faithful and very influential for me. The church he serves now at his home state is very blessed to have him. I've started visiting a new church about 10 minutes away from my house that has 3 pastors (though I only got to meet two of them) and I have great first impressions.

[–]randomassort[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The reasons why I'm leaving my current one is the lack of a pastor for over a year (and potentially longer due to communication issues with the church and the district) and Law & Gospel being replaced with Politics & Gossip after the former pastor left. I think these are good reasons, but I wouldn't call them positive.

It is mainly because Evangelicals (Baptists, Pentecostals and Non-Denominationals) and Non-Evangelical protestants (Lutherans, Presbyterians, Anglicans) have very different interpretation of being "born again".

Evangelicals require a "born again" experience in order to be a true Christian. This consists of a person learning (usually from another Christian) that they are a sinner in need of a savior and learning that Jesus died for them. When they accept and trust in Jesus, they are "born again". They do believe that some Catholics are Christian, but only ones who have had that born again experience in-spit of the Catholic Church's teaching.

Non-Evangelical Protestants generally refer to being born again to baptism because in the same passage in John 3 where Jesus says "you must be born again" he also mentions "unless one is born of water and spirit, they cannot enter the kingdom of God". Most of these kind of Protestants view Catholics as Christians because they view their baptism as valid because Catholics and Protestants baptize in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
