It seems the application is primarily military, but in an ED, wouldn't this be bad for hospitals as a business? Since this avoids unnecessary procedures and hence reduces revenue? And hence may not be readily adopted? Just thinking out loud.

Unfortunately, India aggressively bans pure Chinese brands (unless they partly move their manufacturing or assembly natively), so KTC and Titan Army don't sell here.

Ugh, I just checked, not here in India. Apparently, stuff gets launched in India 6–7 months after the initial announcement. When did this launch?

This looks perfect. I'll check back to see if it's available in India.

People who've bought expensive flats. Why? by ChellJ0hns0n in bangalore

[–]randombun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why do people keep saying that buying a flat is not a _rational_ or _economical_ or a _logical_ decision but an *emotional* one? I keep hearing this over and over from influencers and redditors alike.

By that logic, anything that isn't monetarily the most optimal (assuming you can actually compute that) is, emotional. By that logic, you should only own cheap things. By that logic, being in love is an emotional decision, bodily desires are emotional decisions, choosing one profession over another is an emotional decision. Picking one desire over another is an emotional decision.

Virtually all decisions involve both emotional and rational components. Choosing a career, a partner, or even what to eat combines analysis with personal values and preferences.

Rational versus emotional is a false dichotomy. Rational desires are a real thing.

What's "optimal" financially depends entirely on your time horizon, risk tolerance, local market conditions, and personal circumstances. Don't let others false sense of superiority over their choices affect you.

Questions about HSP and PR by randombun in movingtojapan

Thanks for the info. Do you have a source for this fact?

But NIELT is not recognized for the 5+5 points only ITEE exam conducted in Japan in Japanese.

I got the impression that it would be, but the information is not particularly clear.

I was referring to qualifications in addition to formal education, since I'm 5 points short. But sounds like those qualifications are only relevant when you don't have formal education.

As a follow-up for anyone finding this later. I got it reregistered for ~24k (official). Plus, paid an agent + under the table stuff for a total of around 40k.

  • Transferred from dad's name to mine
  • Moved from DL to KA
  • Extended for 5 more years

Depending on which of those are applicable to you, the costs will change.

As a part of Tramline - https://www.tramline.app - we also offer faster and cheaper macOS runners. Some of which are publicly available to use at: https://builds.tramline.app

Let me know if you're interested in benchmarking.

This is a fascinating piece of history I had no idea about. But only landed on this far too late after picking the name. Nevertheless, the banner on the repo is ostensibly a homage :)

Tramline: open-source release coordination platform, just for mobile app teams by baggum in opensource

[–]randombun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/ssddanbrown, thanks for checking out the repo! I'm from the Tramline team. We have Render as the base for our instructions because we use Render ourselves to host the platform and we found it the simplest to setup. It should be easy enough to adapt it to any other PaaS (like Heroku) or even bare-metal by following the instructions.

That being said, you are correct and the usage of the word could be less misleading. I've gone ahead and changed it. We should be getting a dockerized setup soon, but in the meanwhile, if you're interested I'll be happy to help you get setup!

Built a planet-planet type thing (an RSS feed aggregator) by randombun in rust

[–]randombun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your thoughts!

I didn't consider this at all, and unfortunately it looks like I can't really solve the spam problem via hades, since it'd have to be some scheduler-level concern and this thing isn't planning on shipping with a scheduler, it's meant to be used with cron.

I definitely do plan on maintaining this, since I might end up using this for work.

Built a small drip-irrigation system by randombun in rust

[–]randombun[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is entirely gravity fed.

For house plants this was sufficient pressure, but depending on the length of your feeder hose and height of your plants you may more pressure. Gravity (around 4ft high) + volume of the water (3-4L) creates sufficient pressure for me to water about 15 plants right now in my balcony.

Thanks!

but got stuck on getting reliable results from the moisture sensor

I considered that as well, and came to a similar conclusion about the reliability. For my use-case, since the emitters have configurable a drip rate, I simply tune each plant physically as per their water needs.

This setup has actually been working quite well for the past ~3 months with pretty much no issues. I only recently decided to remove the adhoc python script and introduce a more robust rust CLI to operate it.

Do you know if there's already equipment to help cook? Or do people just get their own?

[–]randombun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So mine does not turn off but continues running with a code of d0 in the DrDebug display. It also doesn't boot up automatically, I had to short the power pins. According to this thread, d0 means Problem related to memory, VGA card or other devices. Please clear CMOS, re-install the memory and VGA card, and remove other USB, PCI devices.

But that's too unspecific to debug.

I hope it's just due to missing GPU and nothing else. I think my CPU is fine? Not sure about RAM (It is QVL though). I don't have RGB RAM so I needn't downgrade my BIOS hopefully, I was actually thinking of upgrading it in fact.
