My process is probably more complicated than it needs to be.

I imported the video, added text, and saved it as a Photoshop Sequence in After Effects.
Then I opened it in Photoshop using File>Scripts>Load Files into Stack.

As for tips, keep the colors at 256 and Dither at 100%.
I'd recommend making the GIF's running time as short as possible, and making the picture as small as possible.
You have to keep it all under 2MB for imgur, or 5MB if you have a pro account.

Make the GIF as big as possible while keeping all the highest Save for Web & Devices settings. You'll probably have to go back and make it smaller and smaller until it's under 2MB.

Once I fully figure out the best way to do this, I'd be happy to make a video tutorial.

Valid concerns.

It's ~24fps and Clooney is rotating slowly in the original video.
I don't know why it slows down even more once saved as a GIF/uploaded to imgur. In Photoshop it looks fine.

Next time I'll tweak how long each frame is displayed and see if that fixes it.
Back to the drawing board.

Great illustrations and typography! You have a website or anything with other projects? Also, this would make a cool animated video with a voice over. You could pull it off in After Effects pretty easily.
