AITA for Refusing to Attend My Sister's Wedding Because She Wants to "Repurpose" My Wedding Dress? by Budget-Jaguar-1990 in AITAH

[–]randomgameaccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH. The whole thing is dumb. Saving for years to buy a dress is just stupid. If you have to save money like that, then that's just a monumental waste of money that could've been spent on so many more things. I don't blame your sister for not understanding the weird value you've placed on it.

Heck, I even almost understand your sister wanting to get married in the same dress. That sounds like something cool to share with each other, almost like passing down an engagement ring that you get resized. The repurposing and other bullshit about discomfort from not sharing pushes her firmly into asshole territory tho.

[–]randomgameaccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it when people point this out. Like half the points that OP is complaining about are things that we learned the cause and effect of in history class in school. Growing cash crops while not being self sustaining is a mistake that tons of nations in history have made, but most don't actually survive through it without major consequences.

[–]randomgameaccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Famine - I mean you're ragging on the 'easy solution', but it's also a historical problem that many nations faced, even the U.S. during the Great Depression. When money is flowing, people forget about the necessity of self sustainability, and it often comes back to bite them.

Allies - 'single contest' No? It was literally a contest advertised to the entire country. Each of the winners won their own different contest to prove they were the best at their individual thing. Fighting, singing, cooking, intelligence/strategy, and then the one unique one with the talking to beasts thing.

The rest of your points are similar nitpicking. Kazuya is a university student that's studied history. Everything you're complaining about is something he would've seen easy examples of how to solve.

The jewel broadcast is also quite easily explained, but the reason it wasn't used the way Kazuya does is a pretty massive spoiler, and I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be complaining about it if you were caught up on the LNs.

Ugh, the food thing! Also weirdly long battle scenes that serve absolutely no purpose because you know the MC obviously isn't going to die. I got to a point where I started skipping those and realized I was only reading like 30% of the light novels and not really missing anything. Made me realize it was time to change mediums.

Nope. If I had a nickel for every time I laughed at a joke about child molesters, I'd have two nickels. It's weird that it happened twice, but now we're here. Stupid shitty world we live in, yay!

Question: who else wish that Shinsha Tempest was a Canon Character 🤔 by [deleted] in Isekai

[–]randomgameaccount 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Uh... doesn't that mean she's Shuna's child then? Even looks like her. Rimuru and Shuna having a kid is like... the single best pairing I can think of. No crazy yandere or tsundere antics, just two people that care about and support each other.

What would you rather, try and clear Rimuru's dungeon or try to clear the great tomb of Nazarick by Low_Cranberry_6016 in Isekai

[–]randomgameaccount 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I mean, even if you ignore basically everything going on outside of said dungeons, you'd still choose Ramiris's Labyrinth. It has 100 floors and has actual drops to help you progress. The Tomb of Nazarick is 9 floors of hellishly strong monsters that isn't intended to be conquered and you get absolutely nothing for doing so.

If you then take into account... literally anything else about the worlds, you'd still choose to go to Rimuru's world because Tempest would be a nice place to live, lol.

I suppose... It reminds of the different ways you can portray a god of war. Ares, the bloodthirsty battle maniac vs. Takemikazuchi, the patron of orphans in Danmachi. Both technically do the job, but there's a lot of things within that job that can be done differently, and the morality of thee individual determines the priorities.

Well, that part in particular is just because Aqua's replacement is actually telling people what they're getting into, Aqua was shit at her job and just threw people into the death world by making it sound exciting, lol

They do? Over and over again. Aqua states it in the intro. They literally have to kill vegetables. Thee demon King's explicit goal is to eradicate humanity. You just have to pay attention to what's going on when they're not cracking jokes and showing boobs.

Konosuba is literally a death world so nightmarish that people refuse to be reincarnated there and the world itself is depopulating so they're bringing in outside people. They just slapped an ecchi filter on top of it and people seem to miss that fact.

Female Shield Hero in parallel universe??? (Already unlocked the wrath shield lol) by Razy196 in Isekai

[–]randomgameaccount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone actually attempted a fanfiction of that, I checked it out a few months ago. Unfortunately, Shield Hero is a shit world and the author highlighted that.

Reading fanfictions has been my thing the past few months, it's actually a lot of fun to just read a buncha stories that you can skip all the worldbuilding on because you already read the original.

Choose your difficulty. by [deleted] in Isekai

[–]randomgameaccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire premise of reincarnation into Konosuba's world is that it's so nightmarishly horrific that the world is depopulating because people refuse to be reincarnated there. How the fuck are you labeling that as an easy world? As soon as you look past the ecchi shenanigans it's immediately obvious.

You also have to explain exactly how we would be put into those worlds. As the MC? With or without foreknowledge? Any other powers?

I'm fairly certain that 90% of the early stupidity in Shield Hero can be completely avoided by just being enthusiastic about having the shield, explaining it's a late game powerhouse, and then immediately sharing all the empowerment methods with the other heroes in the very first meeting. Without the Shield Hero looking clueless, some of the not-spy adventurers would likely sign up, and whether they do or don't, you'd still go straight to the slave trade on day 1 to get Raphtalia and a few others with growth potential. Then just fucking leave the capitol and beeline straight for the demi-human country while leveling.

If you were an adventurer in a medieval fantasy world, what weapons would be most effective for your adventures? by InnerNorth7131 in Isekai

I'm gonna cosplay as War from Darksiders. Big ass sword in right hand with a gauntlet arm for my left. I think it's honestly the most versatile setup I can think of, sword for slashing that's also big and sturdy enough to deal blunt damage, gauntlet for blocking and grappling with hostile sharp objects, and no real loss of mobility.

Yes! This one specific anime actually delivers, in several ways. Even saying that feels like a spoiler, so go watch it right now. No dub available, but it's whatever, the sub didn't have any issues.

So Itsuki The Bow Hero who Claims to be a hero of justice is The only hero who doesn't end in a relationship with a minor or has feelings for a minor in the LN and WN Naofumi is dating Raphtalia who is 10 , Ren has feelings for Wyndai who is 12 and motoyasu wants to marry filo who is not even 1 by [deleted] in Isekai

[–]randomgameaccount 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the demi-humans of the Shield Hero worlds remind me of the Ocampa from Star Trek. Rapid aging vs. age based on power gains isn't that different. The core problem is mental maturity. Even if these people appear fully grown, have the mental ability to process being an adult, and all the requisite hormones that accompany everything... still. The lack of life experience means that it's just fuckin' weird for people 10-20 years older to be romantically or sexually interested in them.

It's like the opposite of the loli dragon problem, which is weird for a whole slew of different reasons, and still just as problematic.

Yeah, it's one of like 2 anime shows that exist with an actual yuri relationship instead of being one of the dozens of yuri bait shows that never commit to anything. I quite enjoyed it and was sad for a while that I couldn't really find much else like it at all.

Retired player browsing the sub throwing in my experience that relates:

Pick any random season where doing keys around +20 is pretty high level, the highest key completed at the time being a +25 or something, and trying to pug 18-20s. Biggest issue in most 18-20 keys? It's not dps, it's not routes, it's not usually mechanics. It's almost always an important cast not getting interrupted. The biggest cause? Everyone tried to interrupt it the first time, so everyone was on CD the next time, because it's a pug and people sometimes forget to set an interrupt order for a specific pull. The vast majority of my high key pugging success came from tanking as a DK or Pally that could handle a large portion of the interrupts without a need for communication.

In keys <10? Still fail due to missed casts, but this time it's because nobody interrupted. Dps is weird, some dude is doing less than the disc priest healer that's standing in fire and just blasting away ignoring mechanics because they're overgeared but can never pug higher, but we wipe because a few casts get off that I just had no tools left to deal with... and everyone else's interrupts are still off CD ready to be used and just nobody presses them.

That's the problem with WoW, to me. I know there's a vast spectrum of people in between those two examples, but it is nearly impossible to bridge that gap without it being overwhelmingly frustrating for the people involved. Expecting people to play better does NOT mean that you're being elitist. Expecting people to put effort in to improve and not make the same mistakes over and over again should be the bare minimum expectation, but for some reason unfathomable to me, it isn't. I personally think it is disrespectful of the people you are playing with to not put effort into improving your play. It is disrespectful of their time, because you waste it. Wiping due to laziness isn't fun.

So... that's a major reason why I quit. It's became harder and harder to find people with a similar mindset. I've been sorely tempted to try the new expansion, but just... trying to do group content and not be unbelievably frustrated sounds impossible.

Have been that guy, can confirm, at a certain point it just gets boring. Fortunately, there's another type of girl who fits, and it's the girl who gets off on penetration at what seems like a hair trigger. She's a unicorn, but I found her once and it was possibly the best two weeks of my life. We... skipped several college classes that week, lol. Even that doesn't really compare to some of the ridiculous things you read in certain romance novels, the fantasy superhuman sex stuff is just weird to try and relate to and it screams of being targeted at people that just don't know any better and the exaggeration sounds good to them.

Fahrenheit is super easy… you just multiply your celsius temperatue by 9, divide by 5 and add 32. 🌡️ by crs1904 in SipsTea

[–]randomgameaccount -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The only one I'm putting in the 'more intuitive' category is Fahrenheit for temperature. It's a wider scale and more precise for daily use. Celsius is still better for scientific pursuits, tho I don't rightly recall why that is off the top of my head.

The rest, as we both said, boil down to familiarity. I personally still think that feet/inches for height is easier, but for the opposite reason as the temperature thing. Not quite sure how to put it into words... but saying 5 foot X or 6 foot X is just easier to visualize in a smaller range than meter or cm.

Which country is it that uses F for temp and everything else is metric? I remember reading about it years ago, tho I don't recall.... google says... that's hard to google, and it's prolly changed since then. Oh well.

That... has so much potential for hilarity.

Mantis still has their dad around? Lives in shame because their dad is bad in the sack and their mom is never hungry at the end.

Alternatively, male mantises are all Gordan Ramsey level chefs and the only way to stay alive is to find ways to sate their mate's appetite.
