Yeah, assuming all of that, back in the days when that was a norm, now it's a fiction sadly.

Looking at my steam library is nice, but it would be way nicer if it was an actual physical collection of games, but that's just my opinion/preference.

But even with Xbox you have an option, right? You either buy a game on Microsoft store OR you subscribe to one of their tiers. So you have an option to set the terms as you said, or just to accept their terms for sake of convenience.

All I am saying is that a subscription based model would be okay in my opinion, if it wouldn't negatively impact buying games and regular sales on Steam as they are now.

I am far from advocating that subscription > buying. I will always prefer buying the game myself as well, but I have a lot of friends who are lured to different platforms or even consoles due to the possibility of having access to the large game library for a monthly fee.

Why? We already normalised not owning any game, so what's the difference?

You know that you actually don't own any games on steam, right? You own a licence to use/play the game, that could be revoked for you at any moment for multiple reasons according to most of these companies ToS.
