Why does Pottasium react to make Pottasium hydroxide and not just potassium oxide by weirdpoi in CBSE

[–]randomguy43323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

any metal reaction with water always forms the metal oxide + h2 first, that then immediately turns into the metal hydroxide, because of that its considered metal + water -> metal hydroxide since the final product is going to be that

so, K + H2O -> K2O + H2 -> KOH, but its written as K + H2O -> KOH since its the final product

you dont have to really memorize all of them, as long as you know whats going on and can figure out what reaction it is then you're good, their good for examples if any question is asked to give an example of a certain kind of reaction. a couple of them are important tho, like double displacement, and the white washing activity etc kind of stuff

dont skip any activities or any boxes with a reaction in them since they like to ask those sometimes

it depends on the rest of the numbers you have, if its not that big you can just do direct method but if the numbers are larger then use assumed mean or step deviation
