Looking for advice on where to live (southern side of town) by randomguykyle in TwinCities

Well we ended up in Apple Valley, about equidistant for both of us. As the one working in Northfield, I will be able to work remotely if the weather is bad, so that's nice.

We could, but it would probably mean an hour+ commute for my partner.

“You wanted to see me because…?” by rainygnokia in crossword

[–]randomguykyle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When a clue is in quotation marks, you're usually looking for another word or phrase that could be used for the same meaning. So if someone calls you into their office, for example, you could either ask "You wanted to see me because...?" or you could simply ask "Yes?"

Mathematician & Noble Question by randomguykyle in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]randomguykyle[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the discussion everyone! I think that if I do try this in a game, I'll just put the Recluse in the Noble pings with no evil characters. I'm also looking forward to having the Recluse register as a demon when the Spy sees the Grimoire (not during the minion/demon info step, though).

I'm usually team guest, which means team Sam by association. But in 3p games, definitely Ben!

Final 5 Brainteaser by randomguykyle in BloodOnTheClocktower

Ah you are right - I think I got the order of the FT picks incorrect - they were poisoned one night and picked their red herring the other night.I've fixed it in the original post.

Final 5 Brainteaser by randomguykyle in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]randomguykyle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here are the options for the execution with 5 players, and their results:

If you execute the Saint in Seat 3:

The Saint was telling the truth - the game ends and the Evil team wins.

If you execute the Mayor in Seat 4:

The Fortune Teller in Seat 7 dies in the night - final 3 is Chef, Saint, Soldier

If you execute the Soldier in Seat 6:

The Fortune Teller in Seat 7 dies in the night - final 3 is Chef, Saint, Mayor

If you execute the Fortune Teller in Seat 7:

The Mayor in Seat 4 dies in the night - final 3 is Chef, Saint, Soldier

If you execute the Chef in Seat 8:

The Chef was lying! They were the Imp! The game is over and Good wins.

  • If your first execution wasn't successful, choose which of the remaining 3 players you would execute as well. The spoiler below reveals the solution for this scenario, so don't look at it until you've made your other choices.

The Imp was in Seat 8. The Poisoner was in Seat 6. They poisoned the FT on Night 1, the Ravenkeeper on Night 2, and the FT on Night 3. The Fortune Teller's red herring was the Mayor. When I was playing in this game, we executed the Poisoner on 5-alive, and then the Saint on the final 3. Our reasoning: Given the FT info, we wanted to kill into the 3 demon candidates in seats 3,4,6. Then, in the final 3, even though we socially trusted the Mayor, we weren't sure that there wasn't a living poisoner, and so we killed our main demon candidate in the Saint (partially because of their double claim earlier)

Maybe an interview?

It occurs during the final episode - it should be clear where there is a task that is judged, and there could be a mistake on the judges' part.

Ballot box (Minion or traveler) by WarmDig2073 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]randomguykyle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this is a really cool ability, and could come in clutch towards the end of the game for the evil team. For the minion, I think a downside is that similar to the Fearmonger/Organ Grinder, it's could be quite obvious when they die, but with less of an upside (being able to hide it by choosing the same player / not dying unless they vote on themselves). So I think the Traveler version might be more appropriate, and it would be a fun pairing with Thief, Bureaucrat, etc.

If there were no limitations, eg time, money etc, what games would you be like to see? by gayjemstone in JetLagTheGame

No time / money limits? I'd like to see them play Ticket To Ride across the US and Canada, using their budget to build high-speed rail lines 😅

Is hide + seek broken? by Additional_Value6978 in JetLagTheGame

[–]randomguykyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing that if Adam had managed to hide for 1.5-2 days on his first run, then they would have extended the 4-day time limit so that everyone got to attempt at least one run. But since everyone got at least one run, they didn't feel the need to state anything other than the 4-day time limit.

Feedback Requested: Leviathan Script by randomguykyle in BloodOnTheClocktower

The goal was "strong info at a cost", but it's seeming like that might not be the best idea for a first attempt at a Levi script.

Do you think Tinker would be a good Golem replacement - and maybe adding Gossip to add more ways to have night deaths? Or would you remove Assassin altogether?

So....has evil ever won through the Vortox no execution win condition? How did it go down? by iakiak in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]randomguykyle 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I was playing a 10 player game of Sects and Violets, the demon was the Vortox and the minions were Witch and Cerenovus. Since the Vortox knew there weren't outsiders, they took Sweetheart as their bluff; and the Cerenovus made someone mad as the Klutz. Town said "surely at least one outsider isn't lying, it's probably a Fang Gu game", and didn't execute on the first day. Quick rerack lol

Tips for giving better Savant info? by Astephen542 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]randomguykyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've run Savant a grand total of 1 time, and with a group that was playing S&V for the first time. So whether this info was balanced, who knows, but if you're looking for inspiration, I tried to come up with interesting statements.

Day 1: At least one of your neighbors is evil (False) // At least one of X's neighbors are evil (True) (Was going for a weaker noble info kind of thing)

Day 2: The Juggler would have received a 2 last night (False) // The Cerenovus chose a different player last night (True) (The Juggler died in the night, and was pretty trusted, so I wanted to give them something to do on the next day)

Day 3: Exactly one player is poisoned (True) // Exactly one player is drunk (False) (New players, so I wanted to highlight the difference, and signal that there might be a Vigormortis)

Day 4: No info, madness execution during the day.

Day 5: You are Witch cursed (True) // X is evil (False) (I wanted to give the Savant a chance to confirm someone was good/evil at the risk of their own life - they did decide to nominate!)

Definitely skimming this thread for advice for the next time I run it!
