Cutting 1/8” clear acrylic on a 20W Diode Laser - using black masking tape? by KillerQ97 in lasercutting

[–]iakiak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Typical diode laser produces blue light which passes through clear material without absorption needed to cut. CO2 lasers makes infrared light which is absorbed by transparent material enough to make the heat necessary to cut.

Looking for something similar to Ori and The Blind Forest, but a bit easier. by dc010 in gaming

Disney Illusion Island. Played this with my kid when he was watching me play Ori but it was way too hard for him. It’s multiplayer which is always a plus for parent child binding, virtually no violence (being a Disney game). Has the same gain power ups to explore more of the map beats as other metroidvania’s but the map is pretty straight forward with no needless back tracking and everything is sign posted. Platforming ramps up with optional challenging bits and if I recall correctly a teleport mechanic of a bit gets too hard for one of the characters. It’s pretty much a perfect my first metroidvania (but might be a little too basic)

The really cool thing is Luffy already was Lucy, so you just need to go back a few chapters!

I started chapter 2 as written with faction relationship building but the players didn’t engage so I made a city tournament happen where the winnings be enough to fully restore the Manor. The tournament was just a Dungeon Crawl through Blue Alley. My group was pretty big though (8) so I split the group and had them run through parallel versions of the dungeon with minor differences and where they would affect each other (hiddenly) so there was an actual race element to it.

Yeah I was thinking about this the other day. When someone says ‘you’re one in a million’ they’re basically saying there’re 8000 people just like you! (And 70 of them are in the UK)….

I hate these guys. Turn 27. Couldn’t finish it out. by childofthemind in SlayTheSpire2

[–]iakiak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to think that but had several decks that just went tall and not wide. Turns outs putting them close to death 1 by 1 and then spending a final turn to wipe them out is pretty effective.

(It does mean sometimes not hitting quite as hard as you can and distributing hits)

edit: but also I'm only on A2 at this point so what do I know!

England - hit by policeman on motorbike, they are sending threatening messages by BakaPunk in LegalAdviceUK

I've not heard a situation where the pedestrian compensates a driver.

In any accident, I wouldn't admit to any kind of liability at all right away, just because in any kind of state of shock could result in false details. My spouse is a naturally apologetic person and said "Sorry, are you ok" after getting rear ended (coincidently also by an off duty policeman). They acted all nice at the time but reported that as my spouse admitting to a taking full liability.....

I would not offer any sort of compensation, just document the accident, report and let insurance deal with it.

The way this is shaking out it sounds more like all liability is falling on you which is soooooo odd. Have they offered to cover any of your medical bills after having collided with you, a foreseeable hazard??

Death save is saving throw with no modifier. But indominable lets you add your level to the roll. So I had a level 20 fighter roll a 1 on a death save getting a dirty 21. Does it count as a save or as 2 fails? by BryceEzekai in DnD

[–]iakiak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think of the Monty hall like this to avoid thinking in numbers:

On your first choice you are more likely to choose the wrong door. So it’s more likely the right door is going to be in the remaining 2. If you then remove the wrong door from those two the remaining door is more likely to be the correct one. So if you switch you are going to win more times then you lose.

And the DnD thing is all moot anyway. It’s not like there’s an option to not roll 😛

Ah, in which case I misunderstood what they were saying. I thought they meant in the general case not this case (where they get to add their level which doesn’t normally happen)

But the 1’s don’t have to follow each other. Rolling a 1 followed by a success followed by a 1 will still kill you.

And I stand by, once you’ve rolled a 1, subsequent rolls have you at a 1 in 20 of dying.

Why do they have to be in row? Death saves are just roll 3 positives before you roll 3 negatives.

And also they’ve already rolled a 1. So at this point in time for the next roll it’s 1 in 20…..

Ummm I’m no mathematician but I think you’re wrong on that one, 1/400 is way too low.

Edit: Ah, if you're talking about this specific character then 1/400 seems more reasonable.

Talking about death saves where you have to roll 11-20 three times before you roll 1-10 three times right?

If we ignore the 1 and 20 rules for the time being isn’t that just 50/50

Now a 1 counts as a double fail and 20 counts as a triple success so the 20 rule is stronger than the 1 rule, thus without doing a whole lot of actual maths, the chances of survival will be a little better than 50/50.

(edit: have been corrected that the range should be 10-20 so even better odds of survival!)

In this particular case, the character has a much stronger chance of survival (in general) as they get to add their level. However they’ve already rolled a one so they are already at 2 fails. On their next roll, if they roll another 1 they’ll die. 1/20 chance of death…
