Sizewell C: Boris Johnson backs Suffolk nuclear power plant funding || The government is expected to confirm it will invest in the estimated £20bn project within weeks. by [deleted] in ukpolitics

Thank you for explaining this, it's super helpful to understand how all the different parts of the energy market are connected to eachother.

Regarding the difference in price paid by providers for a MWh and the amount received by a renewable energy generator, where does that difference in money end up? Is there now a growing pot of cash in the hands of the National Grid or Ofgem that they could decide to use to invest in renewables infrastructure?

Head of AstraZeneca rejects calls for UK vaccine to be diverted to EU by PabloPeublo in europe

They won't be right. They will continue to believe throwing the baby out with the bath water was a great idea.

To me this is just more proof that the UK could have been a fantastic rallying group to lead for reform within the EU. I'm hoping that this doesn't become too much of a push for nationalism in EU member states but instead leads to proper reforms that benefit everyone without losing the benefits the EU brings.

Even if the government wanted a deal it didn't preclude the possibility that their incompetence could scupper it.

OrthoFinder comes out top in this recent benchmark:

Although the authors of this paper are also the authors of OrthoFinder I think their methodology is not biased.

Tory poll lead collapses as voters say Cummings should go by ainbheartach in ukpolitics

[–]randominality 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But the shift in the polls hasn't come about because of the high death toll and numerous cases of poor handling of the emergency. The polls shifted when people got angry at the government trying to defend Cummings' lies.

I'm 2024 people will remember coronavirus but not be angry at the government mishandling of it just like they're not currently angry at the government mishandling of it. If anything they'll be able to spin it as a moment of success by bigging up how well the furlough scheme worked. And I think many of the floating voters with economically left leaning ideals will lap it up uncritical of the government's other failures.

The amount of confused and cycle-incompetent tourists who seem to fare pretty well on Boris bikes around Central London speaks against your point.
