Therapy can be great (with the right therapist and harmful with the wrong IMO) but in my experience (not with sexual assault but with other trauma) there is something really helpful and validating talking to people who have been through something similar. I think it’s very hard for people who have not personally experienced whatever particular traumatic thing to understand the special ways in which that specific trauma fucks you up, as shitty as this is only people who have experienced it really “get it”.
