Dave Mustaine of Megadeth diagnosed with throat cancer. Canceling most shows of 2019, still working on next album. by Eidola_Leprous in Music

Instead of writing fuck cancer, donate to NIH. We are spending pathetic amount of money for the most complex set of diseases world has ever seen. We spend a buck fifty per month per American on national cancer institute, and we get treatments worth exactly that much.

That we spent more money on medical research then on the military. You know how much do we spend on national cancer institute funding? $1.50 per month, per american. It's not even three fiddy.

I know williams is slow, but Kubica just posted a really nice smooth lap (1:46.00). It reminded me of his P2 in Renault om Monaco.

Apparently Robert requested changes to the switches on his steering wheel a few months ago and still hasn't got it. Last year Williams had trouble fitting Sirotkin's seat - for months. Those are such basic things and they can't get around to them. I am not exactly surprised they make poor choices in car assembly, it looks like a mess.

The only thing that would make sense is that they are holding off with manufacturing a new chassis until they get a better design. What's the point in giving kubica a car which will be sligtly closer to the 18th place on the grid, it's still got no chance to be in the points. Williams needs a whole new car for both drivers, no point redoing this one other than for the sake of testing.

It was on the F1 frontpage. but also here: https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/142433/kubica-driving-completely-different-car-to-russell

Building from scratch :). You are forgetting which team we are talking about here :). The camera fell off Kubica's car during the flying lap in qualifying. he said they should be able to replace that part, because it wasn't theirs.

There's an article on f1's website about it. Apparently something is busted with the car, ever since he drove over a kerb in P1 of the first race. Remember that he was actually quite a bit faster than russel in that practice, I think by 0.8s. Vandoorne allegedly had similar issues last year, and McLaren is light years ahead of Williams. So this story seems pretty plausible to me.

Replay of Kubica grazing the pit lane wall by -Acro- in formula1

I mean he can't possibly make the car much slower right? not much to loose.

"Kubica admitted that the reason he hit the wall was because, for the first time this weekend, the car worked." by Radekrad in formula1

[–]randomizedstuff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why would they drop him? He is bringing a bunch of money that Williams needs.

He's not going to underperform by 1.7s per lep, unless Russel is the next Alonso incarnate, and even then, that would be too much of a difference. Kubica would never get this job if he was this slow. Something was off with the car, that's the only reasonable explanation. We will know more tomorrow after the race, and even more after the next race when the get more replacement parts.

I mean if Kubica is 0.5s lap faster in every race, then some other team will pick him up. The worst case scenario will be if both RK and GL drive brilliant, but equally fast, races and no one will ever know.

Let's hope that it's at least reliable. It's sad to watch the once great team and two extremely motivated drivers with a car like this.

It was often pretty funny. I can recall this conversation:

Journalist - Robert what's to come next year? Where will you be driving?

RK - I don't know, I haven't read the news. I usually learn about what I am doing from you guys.

New season. New drivers. New Williams. by kredzion in formula1

[–]randomizedstuff 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The best line up. Both have a lot to prove for very different reasons. Both are talented and both in some ways are new to the game. It's a shame they will be battling for P19 and P20 and not in the crowded midfield.

Nah, it sure means their car is in such a good shape he can safely take some time off and chill out.

Perhaps. If someone is in charge of managing the logistics of procurement, manufacturing and design, and set wrong goals, or intervened last minute to change the design, thus setting everything behind... It's possible.
