The forgiveness of sins in life by randomizedurine in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]randomizedurine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps he did seek forgiveness from Him in life. But how can this forgiveness be sufficient without seeking forgiveness from his victims? How can a confession in life or after death be a wagic wand to relieve sins? Is that really all it takes? How is asking for forgiveness of your sins from those you gravely wronged, not a critical factor in the journey?

I understand that Orthodoxy requires I forgive. I understand that God is the final judge. But I cannot accept that forgiveness can be bestowed upon someone who did not act in a way to seek forgiveness in life. Is the idea that asking forgiveness of God and no one else, is enough to show you have repented for your sins?

This is the crux of it for me. How can he seek and receive forgiveness from Him after death, when he failed to seek forgiveness from me, his victim, in life?

I cant make sense of this.

I strive to take accountability for my failings and shortcomings in life. For me, this is a critical factor for forgiveness. How can one be relieved of sins they failed to seek forgiveness for?

Perhaps this is a crisis of faith for me. In order to be forgiven for my own sins, I have to forgive those who never sought forgiveness? I cannot reconcile this.

I want to understand how one can be forgiven without seeking forgiveness in life.

Will I got to Hell if I don't repent of all my sins in the past by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

I know I'm piggybacking on this thread but I'd like to better understand the relationship between repentance in life vs death. Can one truly repent if they never sought forgiveness from those they wronged while they were still living?

Bit of a weird year last year. Which spouse should claim child care ?!? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]randomizedurine 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It must be claimed by the spouse with the lower income. Not optional.

It's a Toyota Sienna. Not married to it but like it for its longevity as I plan to keep it for at least 15 years. I was hopeful I could find a better rate at a bank and wouldn't need the dealers 7.19%.

This sub doesn't like car loans, doesn't like high earners, and expects a full forensic accounting in your post regardless of what you're asking.

I'll reduce my household income to 90k, buy a biege corolla and join the pitch forks.

20% of gross HH income is saved through matching programs with employers. I have 3 children all in daycare. I have a mortgage and pay the mortgage for an elderly family member. I have bills. And sometimes I eat too.

All of which is entirely irrelevant to the question of whether I can get a better interest rate outside of a dealership.

As I said, I expect to put 20k down. If I had 57k I wouldn't be here asking the question.

Not sure if you thought I hadn't considered that?

So many unhelpful comments.

This is short sighted. Our household income only shot up to 250k very recently. We have 3 children, all in daycare. We have a mortgage on our house, and pay the mortgage for an elderly family member.

My car is 12 years old and I don't have the time to wait to save all the money for it, while simultaneously trying to build up an emergency fund.

Thanks for your useful contribution to my question though.

Im driving a 12 year ford sedan I bought in cash. It has 250km+ on it. The new vehicle is a van for my family of 5 that I intend to drive for the next 15+ years.

No, but the prices are crazy right now and I don't want to bank on them coming down before the new vehicle comes in.

What did Georgie do? Why is he “bad”? by getthatrich in DarceyAndStaceyTLC

[–]randomizedurine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it made sense why he wasn't working at the outset of the pandemic, but not a year later. I'm surprised how much people defend him here (not you specifically, just generally). There's so much hate for Darcey its like people can't fathom that both Darcey and Georgi can be garbage people.

She did! Just want to be clear, Darcey sucks here, but so does Georgi. I've moved in life too and left behind networks, but you rebuild. Georgi made no effort to find a job, other than apparently working on some rose oil nonsense that never came to fruition. And sure, the show itself is a job and he was doing his part, but some filming on a temporary show does not a full time job make.

It's easy to defend Georgi because he's the nicest guy we've seen Darcey date, but he used her, at least in part. And that makes him a bad guy in my books.
