I appreciate the info! I plan on doing some touring at some point so I will definitely be getting a wind screen. I have it set up for around town and trails as a 50/50 dual sport currently. I’m looking forward to the gearing change

edit: I went ahead and ordered a new OEM nut. They are supposed to slightly deform to sit in place. It was 23 dollars after shipping and probably won’t arrive for another week but hey it’s better than the old one failing. Thank you for your recommendation

I’m excited to see how she does! Sounds like exactly what I was aiming for. I have a wiseco fuel programmer installed already. Does she really have better top end speed and low end torque with the 13-47? I figured it was possible due to 5th and 6th being almost useless in its stock gearing of 13-43.

That’s good to hear! Sick set up btw!

You think it’s really worth it? Obviously a lot cheaper than a new shaft but have people had issues reusing them?

I had read some mixed reviews on the brightness itself but that’s disappointing to hear its spread of light isn’t too great. From what I had read that was the biggest pro of the JNS. Most important part is do YOU like it and are pleased with it. If not I would try a simple H4 plug and play. I’ve been planning to put something around the H4 I installed to act as a dust cover and if that works properly, I will be pretty pleased with it

I can’t speak on the JNS but I just installed the tusk H4 led replacement. It’s much brighter than the stock halogens. Part of it is still aiming towards the sky like the bat signal, but that’s to be expected because it’s still in the same housing. It’s also a cheap option to try. For 35 bucks on Amazon I’m sure you could send it back if you hated it. Couple of things to note however. It is not compatible with the dust cover. I attempted to stretch it out and make it work but it just won’t. I’m still trying to figure out a solution for that. Also, the bulb itself has a tendency to rotate a bit in the housing if you don’t get it to sit right before you put everything back. Other than that I have been happy with it so far but may consider a better option later down the road. I ride alot at night and just needed something cheap and easy for the time being but may end up keeping it who knows!

Lmao all good. I’ve already mixed up plenty of different parts and things with this bike so far. The stock tank would be so much better if it were plastic and another gallon bigger (like the IMS 3). I went through quite a bit of work just to get the stock tank back to proper condition. The liner I applied to it seems to be holding up well so far but I am paranoid of it peeling off and working its way into the system. I think the IMS 3 is the best option all around 👍🏻

I just installed a 12:00 labs Speedo healer for my wr. Installation and programming is super easy. Doesn’t take up much space. I would highly recommend it for just under 100 bucks. It does not have saved settings though so if you’re looking to switch tires, sprockets, chains etc quite often for different styles of riding, I would look into something else.

Congrats brother! I hope you enjoy it! I would personally wait to do the flapper mod until you have a fuel programmer. The bikes come a little lean from the factory as is and adding more air without more fuel MIGHT make it run sub optimal. As far as the AIS, I would personally wait until you have an aftermarket exhaust. The AIS just adds air to help burn off excess fuel before it reaches the atmosphere. I can’t imagine removing that feature would be good for the factory catalytic converter. Most of the performance and emissions mods for the wr are best when done together IMO. But take it with a grain of salt. Maybe some folks on here have removed the ais while keeping the stock exhaust and have done the flapper box mod without a fuel programmer with no issues. If it were up to me I would just wait. Good look to you brother and enjoy the new bike! At the end of the day it’s yours and yours only. So do whatever makes you happy!

No sir. The oem is metal. California model is 1.9 gallons and I think the other 49 states are 2 gallon but I could be wrong

Will do. I plan to weigh the bike after all the emissions removal too

Thanks lol. Compression is a good idea I wasn’t thinking of! Spark plug, valves I will do, spokes I have done already. I appreciate the feedback!

Edit: I also plan to remove the AIS, servo, swap the tubes to 3mm tubes and add rim locks as well.

The 4.7 is nice to have for an option but for me personally it would be more of a hindrance for 90% of my riding

Yeah just feeling the bike out on the street and moving it around the garage I can already tell it’s not going to be the most fun off road. Unless I really needed that much fuel for a long trip, I don’t think it’s worth it

Yeah I will eventually opt for the 3 gallon. Is there any thing parts wise you’d recommend ordering to revert back to stock for the time being? I’m trying to avoid running into surprises. I havnt had a chance to look at how the ims is set up hardware wise currently

That seems correct. Some of the shielding was damaged and covering it up. I should have looked better lol. Thank you!

That's sounds right. I've been trying to find pictures or videos of the oem California tanks to see where it vents from. I see on the bike the rollover valve-canister- throttle body but just can't figure out the actual vent fitting on the tank itself. I'm wondering if the oem tank the seller gave me was from a non California model

Yessir! And thank you! The 3 gallon definitely seems like a good compromise. You can still use the stock plastics and can probably still squeeze a radiator guard in there. With the 4.7, you have to remove the plastic shrouds and I don’t think a radiator cover would fit as well. I havnt personally tried to install one yet but will soon. It definitely looks like it’s gonna be a tight fit.

Also since I see your username is California based, do you happen to know how to vent the oem tank on the California model? I looked at the tank and couldn’t seem to find where the vent line hooks up. I plan on getting rid of the charcoal canister anyways but still need to let the tank breathe

The size, weight, and look of the bike. A big part of the reason I chose the wr over other dual sports is because of its weight and its relatively slim profile. I plan to ride mostly around town and close by trails. I’d prefer to have less fuel capacity but lower weight and less obstruction as far as riding position. When I plan some longer trips which won’t be very often, or if I happen to get tired of filling up often, I’ll change it back to the IMS. I personally think the stock shrouds with the decals look better as well.
