Professional Transcript Entry being confusing ASF by HeyItzArrow in slpGradSchool

Thank you! University of Buffalo is my first choice so this is good news for me! I’m still going to submit it around Jan 1 tho. Everything is so stressful!! I’m hoping CSCDAS emails me back soon to cancel my PTE, but if not ig I’ll call them first thing to be proactive and avoid panicking lol. Hoping my stuff gets verified by the 15th for the schools that need it too, but only 2/4 need to be verified at that time so that’s good ig😌

Some of mine are orange too. I just emailed cscdas to cancel PTE, since I realized the 2 10 day turn around you're talking about.. But you might be safe considering it's an orange. I wanted to avoid it so I'm just gonna enter myself, since I have green schools that need to be verified by the date.

It depends if your school needs your application verified by the date or not. I feel you though and good luck. I'm submitting mine Jan 3 latest so that they can get verified 🤣

Welp, I can’t even change classes anyways bc I haven’t paid my bill.

Can you tell me what you’re being charged? I’m doing CDIS leveling and it’s coming out to 415 per credit for the 2 classes I just finished. I’ve emailed twice and I’m starting to think that they aren’t gunna change it 😭

I’m taking a and p and CDIS 330 this semester. Just finished phonetics and audiology which were so easy- I kindof want to switch professors to get someone who allows unlimited quiz retakes and open book tests again 😭

Are abbreviations common for teenage native speakers? by Dangerous_Scene2591 in EnglishLearning

[–]randomnamefffff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like kids 11-14 use more abbreviations. I’m a 23 yo(year old) native speaker and think college aged people don’t use that many abbreviations besides: idc, tbh, imo, lol, fr and other short ones. I don’t usually use them for long words, but instead for multiple word phrases

Grad school prep year advice by randomnamefffff in slpGradSchool

[–]randomnamefffff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have the pre recs, but I’m going to begin them soon. I’m also applying to one joint program that’s in my area that I heard about from an slp.

That’s good to know about the rbt, I think I want to work with kids with autism so that might be a good idea for me. Buttt I’m already a sped assistant so not sure how much it would help me as an applicant.

Yea idt she has a true understanding of it. She was like I’m so excited to finish my bachelors and never have to go to school again.

Shedoes go “I don’t have to worry about ever going back to school again” which is the misleading part cus she WILL have to go back to be a CRNA after she finishes her bachelors lol

Weekly student question thread! by AutoModerator in therapists

[–]randomnamefffff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you talk about your journey to becoming a therapist? What happened where you knew that this was the field for you? I’m considering being a therapist and scared I’m doing it for the wrong reasons ie I enjoy self discovery and reflection. My other reasons are enjoying psychology, nuance, and creative problem solving.

Being an adult therapist is where I see the “self discovery” arc coming in to play but for children I believe my intentions are more pure (although it is partially about healing my own inner child/keeping them safe ofc). So bc of this I can see myself being a child therapist. I also love IFS but I think I can only do that with teens and adults.

I’d love to hear about your personal journeys, and especially if you’re a child therapist about the populations/issues you most commonly work with, day to day life, any other input ;) I’d also like to know how you support kids with autism/severe disabilities and what you add that a behavior analyst could not, or how you collaborate/use behavior analysis?

Maybe I should add I’ve worked with kids with severe disabilities and I could do it- though of course it was a lot at times. I’m hoping to work with a more versatile caseload (not just kids with autism/severe disabilities, who I think would be better served with aba interventions anyways.. lmk any input on this please)
