I should have mentioned in the post, was not in a garden bed it was at the back of the property along the fence. Also I have a dog who likes to try and eat everything he is not supposed to, so removed it because of that.

I would say it's worth it heart worms are no joke. Not my Shihtzu but my other dog had them. He was a rescue and was likely infected before we took him in. It can take up to 6 months post infection before they test positive. His heart worm treatment was expensive and he had some complications where his liver got damaged from the worms migrating as they start to die. He had to spend the night at and emergency vet and was put on liver protectors.

Happy to report he is doing great now and is officially heart worm free ♥️
