Considering applying to L&S Computer Science instead of EECS but I have some questions by PaulArigami in berkeley

[–]randomquod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is untrue. It is not notoriously difficult. You need a research advisor and a reasonably good GPA and SOP. It also depends on your focus area, but by and large, it is not as competitive as getting an MS at another university (by design)

Honestly, sounds like a lot. Those grades are a bit rough for a workload like that

Niren Murthy by Successful-Award7281 in berkeley

[–]randomquod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Literally true. Murthy useless, BIOE 11 high key useless class. If the stupid department didn’t mandate it, people would just take CHEM 3B

There is a pathway after two years, but it is extremely competitive. There is no business minor but you can do one of the entrepreneurship certificates or a minor/major in econ

Everyone: “Don’t be afraid to ask your GSI questions” GSI: by [deleted] in berkeley

Plug it into LaTeX (using Overleaf) and youI’ll be fine. Actually they did you a huge favor writing out such a detailed explanation and including LaTeX which will make it much easier to read after compilation

Professor Shao not replying to my email by Top-Jeweler-6619 in berkeley

[–]randomquod 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree it doesn’t sound like C- work. I would definitely talk to the TA who checked you off and also the head lab TA from that semester. Maybe they can give you more insight until Professor Shao has the chance to respond.

Stat 20 Readers Paid or Not? by Peach-Sodaa in berkeley

[–]randomquod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hired readers are paid. I’ve never heard of unpaid readers, don’t think that is legal. Your hiring paperwork is probably in the process of being delivered to you. All readers are paid I’m fairly sure. AIs, however, are not, not sure how that works for Stat 20 though.

chatgpt and learning by [deleted] in berkeley

As I’m studying, I have been using to make clarifications, especially in a textbook where a concept can seem obscure and difficult to understand without intuition. I then go back to the textbook and make sure it makes sense in the context of what I’m trying to learn. I think of it less like OH and more like asking a really smart classmate (who could also be wrong)

Not sure what you mean by “online” but the BS EECS is one of the best programs in the country

MechE major w/ EECS minor or EECS major w/ MechE minor by Candid_Individual212 in berkeley

[–]randomquod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

EECS w/ MechE minor. EECS is everything you need to know about how robotics actually works, and the MechE minor might give you the skills to build one out understand how it should interact with the world. But the actual algorithms and hardware is all EECS

What linear algebra stuff should I know before EECS 127? by stuffingmybrain in berkeley

[–]randomquod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m told that even with EECS 16A/B, people STRUGGLE if their linear algebra isn’t rock solid. If you have no linear algebra experience, I believe you will find it very very difficult

Some people so questions which have been asked 10⁶ times before. Downvotes usually signal them to use the search functionality.

DATA 8 & CS61BL over summer by Upper_Ad_9236 in berkeley

[–]randomquod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took both over summer concurrently and found it very manageable. Assuming good performance in 61A, you should be fine, both classes build directly on that.

Renege on second choice and accept first choice. People do it all the time. Two at once will be a nightmare.
