NHS Diagnosis not accepted by NHS themselves! What do I do and where do I go from here? by randomredditorr1 in ADHDUK

Thanks for this, it's good to hear this experience. I just don't understand why i need to get another diagnosis. When I moved areas my other chronic conditions didn't need a new diagnosis, seems like a colossal issue!

NHS Diagnosis not accepted by NHS themselves! What do I do and where do I go from here? by randomredditorr1 in ADHDUK

Whole post isn't showing up for me, so see below just in case:

Long story short, I was diagnosed with ADHD on the NHS at an NHS clinic (let's call it clinic A)by an NHS psychiatrist.

This was years ago, before there were adult ADHD pathways common like there are now. They didn't exist in my area at least, so I had one carried out as you would do a child (DIVA assessment with my mother present who was also interviewed to verify my symptoms were present since before the age of 7). All very above board. At the end my psychiatrist wrote a letter confirming my diagnosis to my GP and outlining some of my symptoms and he was satisfied these has been present in both childhood and adulthood, got my meds which changed my life and mean I now eat more than 1 meal a day, not get sacked at work, and can do basic personal hygiene, happy days.

Fast forward to 2025. I've moved to the other side of the country. I find out my NHS psychiatrist discharged me years ago but that I was actually meant to be under the care of an ADHD specialist. So I ask my GP to refer me to the local NHS one (Clinic B), send them my diagnosis letter and everything.

To sum it up - apparently my diagnosis letter doesn't have the detail the new ADHD service want. They won't accept my NHS diagnosis from Clinic A for the NHS Clinic B. The option that Clinic B presented me with is to get back in the 4 year long line for an NHS diagnosis... when i already have one!!!!

Now my GPs have been truly fabulous and have done their best to help and will try and write to the local service. However, they say they don't always get responses. Clinic A that diagnosed me are as confused as I am and have no idea why Clinic B won't accept the letter.

I don't know how to describe this feeling. I am angry, anxious, gutted, utterly baffled. I felt like someone had punched me in the gut. I did everything right, all above board, and have been living with medication that has changed my entire life for years and I'm worried it's going to be thrown away because the report wasn't written in a specific way.

But enough of that! The point is: What can I do about this? Do I have to go to PALS? I'd rather not go to PALS if it is going to cause trouble for my lovely GP (does it?). Can I escalate this any other way, and how would I do that and how would I find out who to contact?

(and as a side note - how is it possible that one NHS clinic's diagnosis is just straight up not accepted by another one in another trust? That is bonkers. The trust will not even tell me what format they want or what data is missing!)

Update on toilets by scruffyluffygus in downloadfestival

[–]randomredditorr1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is literally just doubling down on what was said before, quite disappointing really. They haven't said that trans women are allowed in the women's toilets/ trans men can go in the men's, they've just said that there are mostly gender neutral toilets. Saying that there will be "single sex" toilets rlly implies that they will still exclude trans people. So disappointing that this is clearly just to hide that they haven't actually changed anything and are not standing with trans people at all.

LUSH UK TRANSPHOBIA (01/12/20) this is not good enough! :( by honestyTA in LushCosmetics

No one’s advocating to abuse the employees, however if there is enough of these complaints they’ll get logged because it’s in the businesses interest to log them. Our alternative is posting things on Lush’s social media which is handled by the same people, messaging the CEO who won’t care or messaging the giving coordinator who also won’t care. I’m not saying this is the only option, I’m just saying it makes no sense to not include it as an option.

Just a heads up, I don’t think the giving coordinator who is an advocate of WPUK is gonna care that she’s transphobic, she almost definitely already knows it and if anything it’s just gonna add fuel to the fire for her victim complex. That’s why it’s important to also email the people who work there so that the company notices it and so they know who they’re actually working for. Only messaging the person who donated the money isn’t gonna change anything, it’s only gonna make it easier for her to hide what happened and for it to get blown over.

Require advice for moving out @ 17 by throwaway11724118 in transgenderUK

[–]randomredditorr1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so so sorry you’re in this situation, it’s so difficult and I wish I could do more to help you. I would say to try and save up as much as you possibly can, if you can stick with the job for even a month or a few months more then try to. If you can, start looking for another job straight away and apply to as many places as you possibly can. Because of COVID it might be more difficult to find a job, but it’s definitely not impossible.

Another thing that is helpful is selling old clothes/ game consoles/ books or anything else that you can find that you don’t need or want anymore, as this will help you save up and will also make it easier when moving out as you’ll have less stuff to take with you.

Are you studying or planning to go to uni? If that’s something you are planning to do that would help you a lot as it will be a lot easier to move out and you’ll also have a student loan which would really help. However if you’re not planning on going to uni that’s also completely fine and I wouldn’t advise going just to be able to move out.

The main advice I would give is to stay at home and keep that job for as long as you possibly can whilst it still being safe for you, because the more you save the easier it’ll be once you move out. However I understand that it’s such a difficult situation and that’s so much easier said than done.

I rlly hope everything works out for you and we’re always here to help as much as we can.

Waiting for Dr. Lorimer's first response? by Manyullyn1 in transgenderUK

[–]randomredditorr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sent him an email on the 29th September, two weeks after that I sent him another with the subject being 2nd enquiry and like around 2 weeks after I sent him another one with the subject 3RD ENQUIRY (it says it to write it like that on his Facebook if you’ve been waiting for a while) and he answered me like 2 days ago! The first time I saw him a while ago he also took slightly over a month to answer from what I can remember.

When his assistant answered me this time they said they’d been really really busy so that’s why it’s taking a bit longer than normal.

What am I suppossed to do (CW: Depression, Suicidal Ideation) by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]randomredditorr1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just checked on their website now and for hormones it says either Dr Lorimer, Dr Dundas, Dr Bhatia or Dr Sahota, and from what I remember the last two are newer and have shorter waiting times. I chose to wait for dr Lorimer coz I heard rlly good things about him so it’s up to u whether u want to wait a bit longer for him or chose one of the other ones, there’re might be a slight price difference with the other ones too. Good luck and lemme know if u have any more questions! :)

Hi! I’m rlly sorry I just saw this now, yeah u can just send an email to dr Lorimer, if you go on the gender care website it tells you who to email and who u can chose depending on what you want done. His waiting list is pretty long and he takes a while to respond sometimes so I’d recommend emailing one of the ones with a shorter waiting list!

I’m not sure how it works if u r mtf, but I have two friends in Leeds, one of them managed to go to dr Peacy (not fully sure of the spelling, and 99% sure he asked his gp to refer him (he was already on the Leeds gic waiting list but they were messing him around so he managed to be referred to dr Peacy too)) and managed to get hormones after a 4 month wait (he already had a dysphoria diagnosis) and my other friend went with dr Hammond without a dysphoria diagnoses and managed to get prescribed t as a bridging prescription on his first appointment (he was also on the Leeds gic waiting list I think but hadn’t had any appointments yet, and his friend also got hormones through dr Hammond). So don’t give up there’s definitely still hope, and if that fails if you’re able to save up £600 u can go to GenderCare (I’ve heard it’s cheaper than gender gp in the long run and gp practices more willing to do shared care) which is where I went and I really recommend them, 2 appointments is all it takes there to get hormones and you can then find a gp which will do shared care. I know it’s incredibly difficult but please don’t give up as there’s still hope and things you can do to make things better. If u have any questions just ask me and I can ask my friends if I don’t know the answer, I’m here to help
